There is no such thing as weight loss tea. Tea might aid your weight loss efforts simply because it is better and more healthy than a lot of other drinks, but there is no tea that can make you lose weight.

Weight loss tea? no.

make you use the bathroom so it seems like you lost weight but really it will just come back tea? Yes there is that.

Black tea has been shown to boost metabolism in some studies but there certainly is no "weight loss" tea. Although I love tea and drink it frequently because it does have many benefits, but those teas you can get at any grocery store...

I've started taking green tea an black pepper capsules and I could see the result without adverse effects. Ive lost 1.5 lb during my first week and now crossing my fingers to reach that ideal weight. Take plenty of water and banana to prevent nausea due to lack of potassium to some people. Hit the gym or exercise while taking this weightloss pill to see a more radiant u.

Nonsense. Those capsules do nothing other than cost money. If you exercise and watch what you eat, you'll lose the weight. Don't waste money on :icon_bs: like so-called weight loss pills.

Green Tea and Weight

Green tea and its extract have been shown to fight obesity and lower LDL "bad" cholesterol -- two risk factors for heart disease and diabetes -- but in very limited studies. One study in the Netherlands and a study in Japan showed that green tea did both.

In the Dutch study, participants who drank caffeinated green tea lost more weight, but even those who typically drank the decaf variety saw a decrease in their waistlines and body weight. Researchers speculated that the caffeine helps with fat oxidation.

In the Japanese study, 240 men and women were given varying amounts of green tea extract for three months. Those who got the highest amount lost fat and weight and had lower blood pressure and lower LDL "bad" cholesterol.

Taking weight loss supplements that contain green tea extract probably won't hurt, unless you have liver problems.

But the best way to get the most out of green tea -- even if your main goal is losing weight -- is to drink it.

"Taken altogether, the evidence certainly suggests that incorporating at least a few cups of green tea every day will positively affect your health," says Diane McKay, PhD, a Tufts University scientist who studies antioxidants. "It's not going to cure anything and it shouldn't be consumed as a drug, but it can complement the rest of the diet."

McCullough bears the same reminder: eat your fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts -- and go ahead, drink as much green tea as you want.

"I don't think it can hurt to drink it. I'd focus on dietary sources rather than supplements because there are several compounds in green tea that might need to be consumed together. We just don't know yet," she says.

Green Tea Health Benefits

Here's my opinion

I believe that some things may assist you in your journey of losing weight or gaining better health. But improving your diet is the best way. If you want to exercise well that's an added bonus too.
Tea is good for you. If you like it drink it. But don't rely on it to make you lose weight as some miracle drink/pill.

Don't be lazy. Good things come to those to weight (oops) I mean wait and/or work hard for it.

Nah, it's certainly not going to hurt. And if the tea replaces sugary drinks or generally more unhealthy ones, then that's an added bonus. Plus, it tastes good and keeps you hydrated. You don't know any 'slimming' tea for that though, any regular green tea (or Roibos for that matter) will do.

And I don't believe for a second that those pills and capsules do anything. Or that drinking that 'miracle' tea will make you lose weight. It won't.

Green Tea is NOT a weight loss tea. There is no such thing.

Green Tea is healthy and yummy, but on it's own, won't do any more for your weight loss than a glass of water.

I drink green tea every day and I love it. I've heard it's very healthy. For me it has a nice calming effect. And it does get rid of my after-dinner sugar cravings. So I guess in that way it could help one to lose weight.

green tea is good?

You may see a green tea metabolism booster in any drugstore or Wal-mart. Multiple studies have been conducted concerning green tea and weight loss. It is those studies that are used as the basis for the claims made by the supplement manufacturers. While the supplement is a beneficial part of any healthy weight loss program, some of the claims made by manufacturers are overstated.

Caffeine

If you read the fine print on green tea metabolism boosters, you will see that results vary. For best results a healthy diet and regular exercise are recommended. If you read the label of ingredients, you will see that caffeine is added to the mix. After all of these years and even though most people consume too much caffeine, anyway, it is still considered an appetite suppressant.

Most of the studies concerning green tea and weight loss were conducted using laboratory animals. Logically speaking, it may have been the caffeine that caused the animals to lose weight, because caffeine is something that they do not normally consume. But, there was one recent study concerning green tea and weight loss that involved humans, during exercise.

Study of Green Tea Metabolism

It was a very small study, consisting only of 11 healthy men, but the results were promising. The volunteers were either given a green tea metabolism booster or a placebo. Fat oxidation was measured after both groups spent 30 minutes on an exercise bike. In the group that was given the real supplement, fat oxidation was higher than in the control group. In other words, the men that got the supplement burned more “fat” during their workout than those that did not.

I think green tea does help with weight loss but not on its own and not much. You need to consume quite a bit of the green tea 3-5 cups daily to lose some weight which only will equal to about 7-10lbs. a year. But I personally drink the tea and it helps my substitute my snacks. So instead of having a calorie pounding snack...I enjoy a hot cup of green tea which burns up to 70 calories a day for me.

Green Tea May Ward Off Weight Gain
But You'd Have to Drink a Lot of Tea to Match Preliminary Lab Tests in Mice

Jan. 23, 2008 -- The benefits of green tea might include blocking fat and keeping extra pounds at bay, according to preliminary lab tests in mice.

Don't skip over that word "preliminary." There's no proof yet that sipping green tea will do the same for people. Staying in shape continues to be a balancing act between calories and activity.

Here's what those preliminary lab tests in mice show:

* Less weight and fat gain. Among mice with an obesity gene, those that ate chow laced with green tea extract gained less weight and less fat.
* Less fat in the liver. There was less sign of "fatty liver" disease in the mice with the obesity gene that ate chow laced with green tea extract.
* Lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in mice with the obesity gene that ate the chow laced with green tea extract, compared to other mice with the same obesity gene.

A healthy liver isn't fatty. But obesity -- in mice or in people -- can lead to fatty buildup in the liver and cause nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

As for that green tea extract, the study used it in doses equal to what a person would get from drinking at least seven cups of green tea a day.

The University of Connecticut's Richard Bruno, PhD, RD, and colleagues report their findings in February's edition of The Journal of Nutrition.

I am not a mouse.

Just saying......

On a more serious note, it's a study from 2008, and newer studies have all come up with the same result - Green Tea is healthy, and good for you, drink as much as you want, but it won't make you lose weight.

Green Tea will always be part of the fad diets. Everything even a little healthy becomes one... and there will be people who just can't seem to give it up.
Like San said... I am not a mouse.

Yeah, some people will always fall for it. On the good side, drinking green tea certainly isn't unhealthy, so that's a plus...even if people don't get the 'weight loss miracle' they expect, at least they are doing something good for their health. Better than most of those weight loss pills out there that are actually dangerous and can cause damage to your health.

I'd watch reactions on different teas you have too. When I drink green tea (I don't know why, but I do know it's horrible) I feel like my blood pressure has plummeted. It's a really horrible feeling and all I want to do is go and lie down, and even when I do, it feels like everything's spinning, and then I want to throw up. I'm quite wary of a lot of non-black or non-fruit tea now as a consequence. (This has been my experience across various brands in two countries)

I risk being a total ditto-head with this post, but this topic interests me a lot.

I've enjoyed playing with herbal teas for a good long stretch of time and while that makes me no kind of expert, there is no "weight loss tea." It's just a nice thing to do for your body if you enjoy it. Metabolism-wise, drinking a cup of hot water with a dash of jalapeño sauce would probably do the same thing for your body temperature/circulation (disclaimer - I know nothing about fatty or fatless livers).

Using myself as an example -- One of the things I had to cut down on was coffee with milk and sugar. I dislike black coffee, but subbing green, white, dandelion, burdock teas and so on helped me cut down to one cup of coffee with skim milk in the morning in a way that subbing water never could. The only thing that makes these teas 'weight loss teas' is what I'm using them for. If they're 'weight loss teas,' the glass of water on my desk is 'weight loss water' and the salad I'm having is 'weight loss salad.'

As for herbal pills, I echo some in this thread and the guys from the show Big Bang Theory - if it's not prescribed (sp?) by a professional herbalist or legit doctor, all you're getting is really expensive pee.
