Weight loss questions

Ive been trying to figure out a good exercise routine to shed some fat around my stomach area. Im just clueless on which exercises to do. Im in college currently for Graphic Design so fitness isnt something im all that used to. Luckily im not in bad shape to begin with, 6'1" and 175 lbs (18 year old male by the way). Id like to know which exercises would be best to help get rid of some fat around my stomach. Any advice would help. Ive been starting to eat "differently" than normal the past 2 weeks. Following some dieting tips found on these forums. Its mostly the exercise part id like help with.

Hey Oblivx, welcome to the forum!

Just keep in mind that you can't spot reduce, meaning that you can't target just your stomach area for fat loss. Getting a combination of cardio and full-body resistance training each week will help you lose fat all over, including your stomach area. You just have to be consistent and patient and over time, you will see results.

What kinds of activities do you enjoy?

hi ,
i would not do too much of cardio but concentrate on weight lifting - this way you will build muscle and get nice shape - above of all the provide sustainable weight loss solution whereas cardio will only help to loose weight periodically - and you will need to do a lot of it very often - and when you stop you will be looking plump again -
build muscle and get shape- and the rest will come :)

Hello Oblivx
I am very much concern about your challenges. I have a close pal with the same experience in which she is adamant on, but only concern with dieting. There is more to dieting and exercise. I would suggest you study your metabolic compatibility on your diet why you still carry on with your cardio activities.

I did quite a bit of weight training trying to lose weight.but I started getting heavier when i was trying to cut fat.

any idea why that happened?

When you say that you were getting heavier, do you mean that your overall weight was increasing or that your body fat % was increasing?

just heavier on the scales , but I dont look any better or any more muscular?

Sorry, haven't been on the forum in a while! Most likely you were taking in excess calories, so even though you were doing a lot of training, you were probably gaining both fat and muscle by eating more than you were burning. What is your diet/nutrition like?

Strengthen your abdominal core muscles and lose your body fat. The concept may sound simple, but putting it into action can be quite challenging.

It will take dedication, time and patience to get a six pack; but in the end, the effort is well worth it.
To get six pack abs you need to do two things: lose fat and build muscle. You get this by dieting and exercising daily.

You can have the most toned and muscular abs, but it will not show if there is a layer of fat over them. And yes, your daily workout is perfectly fine. All I want to recommend you to be committed.

Keep in mind that it would take certain amount of time. So keep up your hard working.
