Weight loss program

Hello,

I'm wondering if I can get any guidance on a workout/eating regime for myself over Christmas holidays. I have three weeks, and I want to see how much weight I can lose in this time. Is this even realistic, I mean can you honestly lose that much in three weeks? I have a lot of time and I want to work out as much as they do on the big loser, if not more (i'm not sure how much they actually work out?) But yea, I just want to challenge myself over christmas and see how much weight I can lose, and hopefully when school starts again in January I can still maintain a workout schedule. I have access to workout facilities at school, which include a swiming pool, fitness room, and squash court. I want to vary it up throughout the day. Is there a maximum amount of hours in a day that you should spend working out? How do you keep up intensity? I don't want to be spending 5 hours in the gym, but at such a low intensity that I could've done it in 2.

Thanks
Jason

A lot of your questions are answered in the stickies throughout the site, that will educate you on what you should be eating and working out.

Generally, you don't want to lose more than 2 lbs per week, any more than that can be risky for your health. Also, depending on how much you need to lose, you may lose faster at the beginning and then plateau.

I think the more important thing you should focus on is reading on what you need to do in these three weeks (that you're home?) and start slowly, work on a plan for when you get back to school.

You don't have to work-out five hour a days.

Weight-loss is ultimately about expending more calories than what you take in. The stickies will give you the formulas on how to work that out.

Good luck! Don't forget to post your questions after you read the stickies!

Hi
How much weight, what type of exercise program, why the need to lose weight--questions you need to answer before you get carried away.

It is possible to exercise too much and to weigh too little.

If you get into body building gaining weight is often the result and you'll still be proportional and healthy--if you do it right. Get into cardio and you can lose weight, sometimes more weight than you should.

PS: In all my years of body building I never exercised more than 2 hours in a day and never more than 3 times a week--I didn't want to be an Arnold S. but I was very strong and proportional (still am even though I lost some muscle mass when I dropped my 55 pounds).
