weight loss plateau

Perhaps it would be better if I understood how this last five-seven pounds is excessive. If it is just a tiny pooch perhaps you just need to do crunches to make the area more defined. that muscle will of corse boost your metabolism.

I generally do not encourage weight loss in terms of numbers especially for persons who are not excessively fat as it is less and less likely that what comes off is fat. I would suggest making a goal based of muscle definition, bodyfat ratio, strength gains or somthing else as your bodyweight is bound to fluctuate for dozens of reasons beyond your control. Besides, it is not as if that five pounds is noticeable in the least unless you are on a scale. I am still willing to give advice to help you with this but I think that it is funny.
When is the last time a bunch of guys were watching girls in bikinis and one says "yeah she's okay but she really needs to lose like four more pounds. It does not happen. And I will never understand your goal being based on numbers that your body is so plainly rejecting. If you lose that last few pounds I can almost gaurentee that it will be muscle or water (water never stays out for long)
Remember also that ALL weight loss will result in some muscle loss and the less fat reserve you have the more likely you are to just cut muscle as you drop.

Have you cut your sodium yet?

my mums. my weight is all over the place i gained weight a couple of days ago and now i have lost 3pounds, im 124 pounds now, i just want to lose the last 4 pounds.

Oh, well for that matter ask her to put in salt after it has been cooked so you can avoid it. Let her know that you want to dodge all oils, cheeses and high fat sodium and high carb extras. Not making your own food makes things a world harder but if at all possibel get some money and buy your own supplements so you do not lose a meal or become low an any essential nutrients.
And you just said mum. That is so cool. You are like all britted out. Now is your "mum" down with your goals? If she is not so supportive than that complicates matters further

And keep pooping. you will lose weight every time.

lol i am from the UK so i say mum!! lol
my mum is not that supportive she actully thinks im getting too thin, i keep telling her i only want to lose 4 pounds and after that im just going to maintain that weight. i sometimes make my own food like on weekends but after i come back from college i cant be bothered.

Hello fellow Brit!

From having a quick scan at this thread (sorry but i can't offer any great life changing advice as i am new here), but why don't you stop weighing yourself so much?

I mean, in like a two week period you seem to have been on a daily rollercoaster of emotions dependant on the scales. When had you just weighed yourself at the start of the two weeks, then at the end you would have not have had any of the grief- and still been the same end weight as you were with all the stress.

I tend to use a tight piece of clothing as my goal, even though i know i weigh the same it gets looser and looser- making me feel fab and keeping me motivated!

:D

yeah i do weight myself alot but thats cause i want to lose the last 5 so badly. i also measure my self every single day aswell with the measring tape. i know i should sotp but i cant i need to lose weight to be happy!

Your body will always gain and lose at least one pound. This is because you eat and drink and poo and pee. So there is always an uncertain amount of extra matter in your body. It does not really affect your appearence. If you are just concerned with what the scale says just cut off an arm or a leg. You will look the same and the scale will give you a happy number.

As far as I am concerned you have already reached your goal and now you are just stressing yourself out.

you should be happy with who you are. why are you letting a number on a scale define you? and the fact that you need to lose more weight to be happy when you are already 5'9 124lbs...makes it sound more like a dangerous obsession than a beneficial goal.

I will be honest with you here (as a health professional), 5'9 and 124 sounds the right weight- if anything perhaps a little under, plus if you are eating (to some degree) a restricted diet and you still can't loose it- it quite simply is not meant to be off. Also- if you were to reduce your diet further, and up the exercise could you really maintain this forever to stay at this ideal? And more to the poiint where has this magic number come from?

I think as long as you are healthy (both mentally and physically), are enjoying your diet and workout routine, then just let it go- life is far too short ;)

ok, as a general rule you don't really start burning fat until your heartrate is elevated beyond 20 mins. and walking for 10 minutes does argueably nothing for you. do a pace you can maintain for 30 min. basically do more cardio if you are physically able to. 3 days a week minimum but if you really want to lose more fat do 4 5 6 or 7 days a week. you should be weight training also but thats a different story.

post #17 i really want to get down to 120 pounds ill do anything to get that thin!

post #23 no i havnt kicked soduim off my diet

post #37 i dont want to weight train.

Just a freindly reminder.

Now more than ever I want to remind you why there is all this pressure to revise your goals.

I myself hope that one day I will be 240 lbs. I am 217 right now and it has been a long hard journey. Now 240 is not my real goal. I have a look in mind. I may hit 240 and find that I am not big enough or I may find that when I am that heavy that I cannot maintain my definition or my vascularity and I will have to make all sorts of changes to my goals to improve myself and get closer to my ideal. If that means loseing some weight to make my viens pop out more than so be it. I just estimate that to make all my goals comes true that I will probably end up weighing about 240. Of course even then it will range between 238-252 depending on when I ate or pooped last. But if it turns out that I can look the way I want at 230 than that works too. I certainly won't be upset about it.

I know that you do not want to have my big He-man look but the moral of this story is that healthy goals are not based on numbers. You have the look of a 120 lber and being five or seven pounds over or under will not change that. Now if you are more concerned over a look in your belly or the way you fit into clothes or somthing else than I am certain I can give you lots of advice.
If all I cared about was the number on my scale I would have reached it a long time ago but I would be looking a tad more like Chris Farely than he-man. Likewise your goal is not based on an image or an ability. This does not mean that you should never reach your weight but that weight should be a result of other grander goals. If you could just say that your goal is to get skinnier than I could give you some great advice (hint: it is not what you are doing right now)

I know I tease a lot and I have posted a big lot of material on your thread. I have posted more than anyone else including you because I see tremendous potential in you to do great things but in your efforts to reach the trophy you are neglecting the important journey of the race.
And you simply cannot maintain that weight with your current body and you will gain it back with less muscle until you go to futher extremes to lose it and gain it back with less muscle and the thin sexy look you crave is not obtained by just having a small body mass- it is caused by having a LEAN bodymass. Please believe me that the best thing you can do right now is to just pick another goal. You will probably hit your weight in time but you earn it by doing somthing else.

If you have not turned me off yet than I thank you. I have to wonder if you stopped listening some time ago. I am still listening to you. And I think I understand what you are feeling better than you think. I know you are so close but I think you should let it go and do somthing else. Whatever you decide I am sure someone can tell you how to get there.

wow thats a long thread! i do want to get to my goal weight cause i aways achieve what i work hard for (if that makes sense :s) but i dont want to weight train cause i dont want be too muscly lol i want the delicate look lol. i do cardio, and ab exercises and exercise for my hips but thats it, i eat healthy i have kicked many of the food i love to achive 120lb, i kno it dosnt seem too much of a big deal 4lb dosnt seem so much weight but for me it does matter, cause i have set a goal and i want to achive it.
