Do these things really work!? (by these i mean Zantrax-3 and all those other pills you see on tv)

Is it not smart to take them?

Hi.

You know what the above poster said? Not exactly right. There is no 'quick path to weight loss'. That is just advertising talk.

First, most 'weight loss' pills are not good. Several have actually caused health problems to their users. Alli, while FDA approved, is no magic bullet. If you read about it, it tells you to do the exact things most here say to do...eat healthier, wiser, and work out. Weight loss is calories in vs calories out.

Before taking any weight loss pill, talk to your doctor. There are some pills that do help they can give but don't look to the pills to be the cure. It is going to take work and patience, focus and strength. We are here to help you along the way.

If diet pills worked the way that the ads say they do, we wouldn't live in the obese society that we do. I've tried a great many of them, and if they worked, I wouldn't be at the weight I am now. Everyone looks for a way to lose weight that will require no work on their part other than swallowing a pill or getting a surgery, but I've come to realize that the only real, true, safe, and healthy way to shed the pounds is through changing you eating habits and adding exercise to you life.

It may require more work, and it may be a lot harder to buckle down and stick to it, but isn't your life worth it?

Now, what I DON'T know is how well these different pills and drinks perform when paired with a proper diet and exercise routine. I'd like to be optimistic and say that there could be something, somewhere that could give a little boost to the normal routine, but I couldn't say that it would do it safely.

BTW, Jericho, nice ticker, lol. I see we're pretty much in the same boat! Good luck!

As someone who is very, very guilty in this, I can say that weight loss pills DO NOT WORK. I have one too many, that's for sure. The only thing that works is what has been tried and true: calories in must be > calories out. Simple as that.

Oftentimes, people (like me) have emotional eating issues with weight loss and food. Diet pills can't take care for emotional eating, that's for sure.

Weight loss pills are garbage. Avoid them. Not only are they garbage, they are a cheap excuse to rid yourself of responsibility. They are a sign of weakness, IMO.

Start developing healthy eating habits and you'll, in time, become a lean person just by living (foregoing genetic or medical causes).

If you REALLY want something that MIGHT give you an extra boost for weight loss, start drinking about 4 cups of a high quality, natural green tea every day. It'll make you a lot healthier, if nothing else.

Here is the funny thing. People who say these pills work tends to be people paid on forums to spread the word. People in real life who say they work are often paid for endorsements.

But those who don't fall into either camp, they say it worked but don't realize what they really did was reduce their calories AND took the pills. Instead of giving credit to eating less, they give credit to the pills. Why? Cause they paid for the pills and no one wants to look like a fool for buying something that doesn't work or look stupid cause they could have just ate less calories on their own.

Use your head and use reason.

Im not saying they work or dont, but I used to use the old hydroxcut and it really did get rid or supressed my appetite. I know it cause a couple problems for some, but my plan was to use them for a month or so and stop. I liked them, i recently tried the new hydroxycut and it seems like it doesnt supress your appetite as much but i only used it a little becasue i hurt my knee and cant work out so i stopped using it.

If you want some pills that actually have a chance of doing something go buy some fish oils and multivitamins and maybe calcium supplements if you are deficient in that area...not for weight loss but for overall health..which will make losing weight easier
If you read the fine print on the commercials for most of these weight loss pills (that super small white text they oh so coincidentally put against a white background) it says average rate of weight loss for people on these things is 1-2 lbs a week with diet and exercise ... which is how much you will lose anyways if you do diet and exercise without a pill.
