Weight Loss Journey for Feeling Gooder

Fellow maulers and mauless, I trust the weekend has been good to you all.

Making more progress with the brush clearing and have set up a small fire pit and dug a water hole to extinguish the fires over the weekend to help clean up the branches and boil water for tea/coffee. Lots of fun to get out there and work up a sweat. Have also been spending time drawing nails from old lumber which also helps get the exercise in while doing something at least somewhat productive.... In another life I guess I should have been a farmer or lumberjack.

Yeah, we have a bit of barn wood in use on our property but I'm not handy enough to repurpose it. Guess I will leave it as is since it's actually serving a purpose as a wall right now :)

Knee is pretty much unchanged, I can walk no problem and could probably do some light jogging but I'm not going to risk it until I can get an appointment with a specialist to find out what I've actually done to it. Still get a sharp pain anytime I bump into anything or when I kneel down and put any weight on the front of it.

I've updated the weight on the first post here and it's nice to see the numbers continue to drop after quite a few months hovering +- 5 pounds. Now under 225 and have lost over 70 pounds which puts me back to what I weighed around 15 years ago when I was still in college.

ACollege weight! That's great! I am still 25 away from that. And I fear that I have way less muscle mass now from when I was a defensive tackle...I think 220 would be a good number for me. But that's still just a dream.

AWay to go Feelinggooder...70 pounds total lost!! Congratulations, that's awesome! Kooning your exercise and wood cutting, I'm sure your body fat is great too! Keep up the good work...I'm pretty sure I'm not at college weight yet...well, maybe after the freshman 15!
You're my hero man!
Sarah

Ah, college weight... I'd be happy with senior year, let alone freshman year (aka: the last time I was under 200).

Congrats man!

Yeah, I'd imagine I'm back around Senior year weight. Last time I was under 200 lbs was early in college after an intense summer of training that left me with sunken cheekbones and pretty rail thin so not aiming to get back down there again unless I decide to train really hard and go after a six pack that doesn't include six tasty brown bottles.

Need to find another method to test body fat to see if there's a difference between what the scale is registering. Maybe it's time to look into a handheld device, calipers or a newer scale.

Yeah, my pre-freshman year was called a third shift job - worked all night in a factory, come home, eat a handful of Doritos, go to bed, wake up, another handful of Doritos, go to work. Catch up the calories on the weekends. Good times, good times. Went to college thin with big shoulders, shaped like that Dorito. Graduated college in a more upside-down Dorito shape.

Thanks Mystic and Free, still going to shave off a few more pounds over the next few months but no rush at this point. The knee is getting better but still not sure of the cause so heading to see a sports physio this Friday to see if I can figure out what I'm dealing with.

Funny how some little items can trigger big responses. Following my last pit stop before jumping in the car and dealing with traffic on the way home from work, I happened to notice this little button sitting on top of the paper towel dispenser. It was a normal black button with threads hanging off it and looked to have recently popped off someone's pants.

Seeing it there reminded me of all my buttons that had suffered a similar fate over the past couple years which made me remember a list of non weight related goals I had set for myself back in January. Seeing that button sitting there, knowing it wasn't mine and realizing it's been quite some time since I've popped a button off my clothes made me smile quite a bit. For some reason that button was worth more to me than any other accomplishment over the past 9 months. Didn't take hitting a new goal weight, didn't take completing a long run or a triathlon... only a silly little button.

So I wish all of you good luck finding your own buttons...

That's awesome feeling gooder. Definately something to remember when you are having a bad day.

I'm back into a top that I really like, which I have been to big for and also had to stop wearing for a while cause it was too big for me. I feel satisfied to be back in it, and motivated to get too small for it too.

Great work Anna, it's an awesome feeling to shrink back into clothes as your wardrobe gets to expand. As good as that feels, it feels even better to shrink out of clothes. This time I forced myself to donate the stuff that started looking too baggy as extra motivation to never need them again.

Pretty standard week for me this week. Had a light work week last week and now making up for it with a busy one this week, still not running but getting some decent walks in and keeping to a sensible meal plan. Losing daylight far too fast so not a lot of opportunity to get out clearing brush during the week days.

On behalf of the fat maulers it is my pleasure to bestow upon you.....drum roll...

THE ORDER OF THE GOLDEN BUTTON....

Good work dude!

Outstanding job going from pushing 300 to getting fairly close to 200.

Everything I've read about accurate body fat measurements is that the witch treatment (dunking her in water and seeing if she floats) is the best way to measure body fat. The rest are either really expensive or prone to significant error. I was going to purchase one of those little game controller looking things, but my internet research discouraged me.

But what the hell do I know, really.

AHey feelinggooder, such a nice story about the button! You continue to do great and remain an inspiration for me! While I don't have a button this week, I do have a running goal, thanks in large par to you... I am being careful by the way!(she says as her foot is elevated with a bag of frozen peas on her foot as she types!).
I will keep an eye out for those hiding buttons to keep me motivated...by the way, I too got rid of my last fat clothes just today..some winter turtle necks...too baggy now! I'm sure there is some big chinese woman here somewhere that will be glad to get it anonymous

Have a great weekend!

Sarah

Thanks all,

Brawny, I'll try to server the order well,

Vee, I think you're right about the witch test, I've heard there's another test set up in some university's set up with lasers to measure the air displacement in a similar way. While the other methods are prone to error I've heard that ones that use both feet and hand electrodes are slightly better than the ones that rely solely upon the feet.

Mystic, let's both make this a great week after our lapses

Sarah, thanks for continuing to inspire me as well and great work on the running and the RICE. I'm surprised to say that I really miss running.

Had quite a weekend starting with a concert, free food and drink on Friday that included far too much snacking on greasy, salty treats and the remainder of the weekend was spent exorcising the demons although it would probably be more accurate to say I exercised them. Spent many hours out back of the house clearing brush by hand. By Sunday I was still up 1.8 pounds from last week but this morning I was actually back below the previous week's weigh in so hoping to put up a new record low by Sunday.

Can a button be the secret logo of the fat maulers? Like the Mockingjay?

I've read up on the fat percent-o-meters, it appears those cheapy calipers are the best actual gauges - figure that out! I think you can also measure a variety of circumferences (neck, chest, gut) and use some magical numbers to get a number.

I'm sure that's some helpful info.
