Weight-loss in a resturant.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips for losing weight while working in a resturant. I am the jack of all trades at a local BBQ joint, and just about all day everyday is spent there. Of our entire menu I can eat two things, besides salad. I got some 100 calorie snack pack things and some Special K protien water but my first day of the diet proved to be difficult. Any suggestions?

Why not bring lunch/dinner to your work?

Pack a salad roll, a salad, leftovers, pasta, soup - store it in the fridge at your work?

Its really just like working anywhere. Just cause you work there doesn't mean you have to eat the food. You could always add some grilled meat to a salad, and go without the dressings and things like bacon and cheese.

I work in a restaurant and on the menu we really have nothing healthy. Even the salads cuz they are packed with cheese, croutons, bacon ect.... BUT if you make it yourself this could change things (or ask the cooks to make it differently if your not allowed on the line) plain chicken breasts, lettuce wraps ect....I mainly just bring my own food to work. I litterly go grocery shopping and stock the fridges at work with my own food. Now I have my own kitchen that allows me to do this though. And trust me I have many people stealing my food all the time(especially my owner-this is why you have to find good hiding spots :) ). I suggest just packing a lunch though. It is the easiest option and then your not wasting your money by eating at work(even if you do get a discount).

I work in a 5 star hotel with food from here to scotland .. at first i use to pig out, but give your self some time, youll get use to the food and not enjoy it so much, your eyes will do most of the eating. Now i mostly eat outside the hotel where i can get something light and healty

Wish me luck, I am going to try not to snack on the garlic bread today, which is my absoulte favorite. As far as lunch goes, I'm eating a turkey salad...so, we'll see how day two goes.

Heyy. I know just how you are feeling. I work in a restaurant also, and the menu has no healthy foods to offer. It takes a lot of self control to not munch on food that is around, like bread, soup, and candy. Personally, I always bring snacks with me. I bring salad dressing (seasoned rice vinegar) to put on the salad the restaurant has, apples, yogurt, oatmeal etc... Also, I drink copious amounts of water and lemon at work to keep me busy because I usually snack out of boredom, so I just stay away from the break room and drink H20 if I am really bored.

The key is definitely just being aware of what you are doing (no boredom eating) and bringing healthy foods to work.

It's tough when yummy food is always around you and available, but you can do it!

I have the same problem! Garlic breadsticks from Olive Garden. Luckily I am so sick of them that I don't even want to eat one haha.
