weight loss help

Hi I'm new here and I'm really after some advice, I need to lose a lot of weight, Ive joined my local gym/health club but I'm really struggling with the actual gym ... I find it so boring. At the moment I'm doing at least 2 water aerobics classes a week, 1 half hour session of boxing circuits and 1 body pump class, am I doing the right things? should I go back to working in the gym? I'm no good at any of the usual aerobic type classes, so they're out of the question, the only other class that I like (from yrs ago) & could do, is a yoga/pilates class. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks
Moi

Looks like you are off to a great start! If you enjoy the water class and boxing class, by all means make sure you keep doing them. Yoga and pilates will also be good for you.

The important thing is to make sure you are doing stuff that you enjoy and keeps you active. The only suggestion I have would to try and work in some resistance training, either at home or at the gym.

Don't forget that bicycling, jogging/brisk walking, and elliptical machines are all 'aerobic/cardio' workouts.
And also remember that its not all about cardio...you need to lift some weights too.

Thanks for the replies, I was doing the bike, treadmill & cross trainer in the gym, and a few ab, back & side (??) muscle work, but no weights :-( in water aerobics I do a lot of resistance work with floats & foam weights as well as aerobics. Body pump is weight based & the boxing circuits is a mix of cardio and boxing in intervals. I just really needed some impartial advice, all the instructors at the gym are interested in selling their personal trainer time or boosting their class numbers and they all suggest different things to actually lose weight :-(

You are doing great. Just like dloop20 said if you are enjoying what you are doing then by all means keep at it! Yoga is a great way to work all aspects of your body (flexibility, breathing, strength etc..) You also need to check your diet. If your diet doesn't reflect your effort at the gym then you won't get the results you want.

Keep up the hard work :)
