Weight loss dilemma

So this is what happens to me whenever I try to lose weight.

I exercise and eat healthy for a few weeks, I feel stronger and more energized but no change on the scale and no change with the tape measure.

When I let myself go for a couple of days, stop exercising and control less what I eat, I notice that my weight goes down by 3-4lbs and I lose 1/2-3/4 inches off my waist.

How is this possible ? Is my body broken?
It has been happening the same way for years now . Would someone have a logical explanation?

Water weight. When you start exercising, or start exercising more intensely, your muscles retain water they won't give up again until they either get used to the new strain or you stop straining them.

I have also seen that my weight has little to do with short term things, a few weeks probably is not long enough for you to expect to see much. I have also noticed that sometimes I do lose a few pounds after going off a diet. As LaMa says that's probably water weight.

The cure is to stick with it for the long term, its the only way it can work.

Best of luck to you!
