Weight Loss Advice

Hi Guys, I am 17 male, height about 5'9 (or 175 cm), weigh about 190 pounds :(

I think I will have to lose about 30-40 pounds to reach a healthy BMI, but I think my diet is already pretty healthy (I never eat fast food/junk food), I try to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits, but my weight just never drops :(

This summer I got a membership to a local pool, and I was wondering if I swim about 1.5 hour every day + continuing eating healthy would be enough for weight loss, and if it is a okay plan (I want to loss 30-40 pounds in 2 month or before college starts)

Thanks

It is very possible to eat too much even if you are only eating healthy food.

The exercise will help you burn calories, but there is no way to know if it will be sufficient for you to lose weight. That all depends on how much you are eating.

I suggest downloading the free calorie counting software or sign up for an account on an online diet journal to help you keep track of how many calories you are eating.

Thanks so much for the quick reply and suggestions. I am not so sure what/portion I should eat for my meals (so I don't eat too much).

I have moved out out my parents house (i will start college in august), so I usually cook for my self right now.

My Daily Meals: (roughly speaking, it kinda varies, but generally the same type of stuff)

Breakfast
-Glass of 2% Milk + a cookie/or banana (Should I start drinking skim?)

Lunch
-Glass of Juice
-Usually some type of sandwich with deli meat (either chicken breast, or turkey)
-Fruits (most of time an apple, or mandarin orange)

Dinner (I am half Korean/Japanese)
- Sometimes Sushi (depends on if my parents drop some off, lol), or noodles with egg + shrimps + veggies
- Most of the time, I make a stir fry dish (this varies depending on the meat, vegetables I have) and rice

Anything I should change? I sort of feel like I am eating too much rice, what should I replace it with?

Don't read this the wrong way, but BMI is not always a good indication of overall body composition - which is really what you should be interested in.

I'm 5'9" 200lbs (usually 210) and that puts me around obesity. However, I'm around 10% body fat which indicates I'm the opposite of obese.

If you feel you're overweight and your BMI is telling you that, then use it as motivation to work out. If you feel you're healthy and your BMI is telling you you're not, what you'd really like to check out is a body composition which will tell you how much fat your body is composed of and indicate your overall health. Again, I don't want you to read this the wrong way - i.e. "I don't need to work out cause BMI is wrong." I do however want to communicate that having a better understanding of health standards and your personal body type can and will have a lasting effect on your overall health in the long run.... which is most important. Just a suggestion. Good luck!!!
