Weight Gainer and Protein Shake advice please

Hello,

I have a tub of protein shake (EAS Myopro 100% Whey)
and some gain stuff (Optimum Nutrition Gainer Stuff)
coming through in the post soon,

I was thinking, take a protein shake in the mornings and after workouts, and take the gainer stuff before I goto bed.

Would this be beneficial?

Or would it be good to mix the gainer stuff and protein shake together to make one mega banana + chocolate mix?

What is the best method and time to consume these supplements?

umm yea dont drink the gainer stuff b4 bed unless you want to put fat on.. drink ur big protein/weight gainer shake after your workout, and before it drink some protein and a good meal...

Eat your protein EVENLY throughout the whole day. Do not eat 90% or your daily protein needs in one meal as i see alot of people do.

Having a protein shake before and or after a workout is no different then if you had just drank it when you woke up.

direct pre and post workout consumption Should revolve around Carbs. To fill and refill you glycogen stores. with some protein to help restore any that might have been burned off as energy (likely 10 grams atleast would be fine.)

Completely and utterly wrong.

Bad advice.

Recent and not-so-recent studies have found that athletes who refueled with carbohydrate AND protein had 100 percent greater muscle glycogen stores than those who only had carbohydrate. Insulin was also highest in those who consumed the carbohydrate and protein drink.

Protein has other important post-exercise qualities. Protein provides the amino acids necessary to rebuild muscle tissue that is damaged during intense, prolonged exercise. It can also increase the absorption of water from the intestines and improve muscle hydration.

Lol So your saying that all of a sudden after a workout your body requires a Huge amount of protein? Even though the muscle "rebuilding" does not fully start until one goes into "REM" sleep.

And i do not get the second point you are trying to make? Umm it agrees with what i said...Notice i said "Carbs with some Protein" NOT "carbs and NO protein"...

Now again i will state it, it is best to get your protein evenly throughout the day, rather then in one meal or in chunks pre and post workout. Basically you are disagreeing with me on this?

No no im sorry i must have worded it wrong. I meant 10grams at least should do, given your body is in proper condition and your glycogen stores are nice and full the body should not consume much protein for energy, so being as long as everything is working fine you shouldn't have lost much protein during the exercise (were talking about the average weight lifter here)

Again im talking about the Least, and 10 grams at least should do, anything over that is fine as long as it keeps your protein intake balanced.

Due to my lifestyle it can be difficult to have regualr protein shakes throughout the day, I can have tuna though, lots and lots of tuna,

I know to have a bit of shake before and have the rest after me workout but when is the best and most appropriate times to have the protein shakes and the weight gaining shakes.

I understand a difference between both of them is that the weight gaining stuff has more calories and carbs in it.

Would a weight gaining shake be more beneficial as a breakfast drink every morning?
