Weekly progress report on my lifestyle transformation.

Like everyone on this forum, I am not satisfied with the way I have been treating myself. I have a long standing battle with living the way I know is right and living the way I know is self destructive. In the past I have been successful and truly happy within, only to sabotage myself and spiral completely out of control. Even after knowing what it takes to get back to the level of health I of dream of daily, I let denial and fear of failure stop me.

That is why I am here.

As of last Sunday (1/15/2012), I am going to start climbing my way out of the hell I have been living in. That morning, for whatever reason, I stepped on the bathroom scale for the first time in about six months. I was willing to see whatever number came up. Just as I feared, the number was the highest I'd ever seen between my feet. But something happened. I didn't get depressed and quickly gobble up some empty calories to make myself fell better for 2 seconds, I lit a fire inside. I dusted the fitness tools I had hidden in the depths of my mind and started applying them. Sure this has happened in the past in every couple of years, only ending in failure and depression after 2-3 weeks of progress.

This time It's going to be different.

I joined this forum to share experiences with people that know exactly what I'm going through. Sure my wife is supportive and encouraging, but when my motivation starts to dwindle, I her attempts at encouragement end with me becoming defensive. My plan is to report here weekly to you. I'm not going to go into great detail on calorie numbers and each meal I consumed, but how I truly feel I did that week. I will be honest. If I start to let up at all and get discouraged, you'll hear about it. I'm open to all forms of motivation, advise and criticism. I in turn want to be a positive influence on all of you and your struggles.

Please Join me and lets do this together.

WEEK 1

As I had mentioned I started Sunday 1/15. My starting weight was 232.5. My height is 5'8". I had a very successful week. I applied some of the tools many of you are familiar with: 5-6 small meals. Fruits, veggies, lean protein and whole grains. Cardio every day and weights 3 days a week. And lots of water. My weight this morning (1/20) was 227.5 .

Thank You All,

Welcome dude

Nice folks on here

Look forward to seeing your progress!

have you formalized your plan yet? Set some short term goals?

Welcome tjf

Look forward to your posts and progress over the coming weeks. Think we're in the same ballpark as far as BMI goes so good to have one more person going through the same journey.

Looks like you have a the right combination of tools there between the diet, exercise and including weights so it should be fun.

2 weeks down and still going strong.

Well here I am after 2 weeks weeks of being fully motivated, seeing some results, but more importantly feeling 1000% better physically and mentally. This is about the time when some many times in the past my motivation starts to fizzle. I'm not sure why, but this time I'm determined to overcome it.

As far a goals, for now I would just like to continue staying motivated. I feel if I can make it 2-3 months, I will be less likely to give up like I usually do. I would also like to increase my effort with weight training. In the last two weeks, I've been very happy with my cardio doing interval training all but 2 days. However with the weights, I haven't lifted more than 3-4 times. For the next two weeks, I'd like to do weights 3 times a weeks and cardio 4-5 times. My eating, I feel is going great and I hope to maintain my success in that department.

I am so inspired by so many of your success stories and hope to have one of my own.

Wow! Great progress so far, really impressive! I'm jealous of your workout frequency. I have a lot of trouble making it to the gym more than 4 times a week and have no drive to workout at home. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching your progress!
