Hey everyone,
My name is Alex and I am a 24 year old male living in NYC. I have been an aspiring pro hockey player up to the age of 19, when I sustained an injury, which ended my aspirations of playing pro. I am 6' tall and weigh 280lbs, which is a 80lb weight gain since my playing weight of 200lbs. I have been trying hard to lose weight and I do very well during the week, but weekends really kill me. I drink alcohol and eat a lot once I leave work on Friday, and by the time Sunday rolls around, I am very irritated about going to work on Monday because of all the food and drink I consumed in the past 2 days. Today marks the 3rd week that I am on my "diet" and it is very counter productive. I am reaching out for support and hopefully make some friends where we can help eachother reach our goals. And finally, HELLO TO EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM!!!!!!!

ALEX

Hi and welcome! This is, indeed, a very supportive place and I find it truely helps to have others supporting you when losing weight :)

I wish you the best of luck getting those weekends under control and getting back down to your ideal weight! :D

oh where did you play? Welcome to the forum.... what kind of weight are you looking at dropping? What happened to your pro career if you dont mind me asking? Welcome to the Forums!

I am sure your excited about that Contract extrention for Kovy as captain!! ahah!!

I played in many parts of the world, but I traveled Canada a lot and skated with the junior circuit. Right now, I am looking at dropping 30 lbs in the next few weeks in order to prepare for an ice hockey league that starts soon, but ultimately I want to get down to 210. I went to open ice a few times and my hands are still there, I wish I could say the same about my legs, but it was much better than expected. I actually shattered my hand in 8 places and it was rebuilt with pins and screws, I had to learn how to use as if it were foreign to my body, scary stuff. Oh an Kovy, hes my man, and you already picked up on that hahahaha...(I use the AK27 stick and it is awesome!!!!!!!) Im assuming you played as well, where at?

haha well thats good.. your still young if your going to school and you have only played juniors then your still eligable by acha/Ncaa standards. Yes kovy is the man I watched him many years ago here in pittsburgh.

I am currently playing in a acha div 2 program, depending on the team it is kinda close to juniors speed wise.. Next semester in the fall I am going to a better school which is still club hockey but division one..

so... before this turns into a hockey forum... (hehe)

I find that weekends are my weakness too. Partly because I work less on weekends (I try not to work at all if possible), there is less structure so I tend to snack more. I've found that one thing to do is go to the gym, since it eats up about 2 hours where I can't be snacking. I also make huge pots of tea to keep my mouth busy and my stomach feeling warm and full (sorry if this sounds weird?). If meals are your problem you can cut out some high-calorie stuff like bread and butter, french fries, mayo, etc.

Of course if someone opens a bottle of wine, that is difficult for me to resist, especially on weekends. So I try to take smaller glasses and sip on them slowly. I think this can work with any drink...
