Week off

I was wondering how many of you take time off? I have been working out for a year with no time off. One day a week. I lift 3 days a week, do HIIT 3 days, race walk the other three days and everyday do various calisthenics, strengthening type work. My whole body hurts, I have pulled several muscled, loosing interest and dreading my workouts. So I am on day 4 of a week off. I am eating as I normally do.
Would like to hear if others have done the same, what were the results? Did you gain weight, come back stronger, loose weight?

i think time of is very important but it depends what your doing. everyones individual and people should listen to their body. im similar in that ive definately been overtraining and not varying my routine enough. i know myself whether im up for training or not, if you dont feel recovered dont bother. you wont make progress and will feel frustrated, thats my experience.

iv been lifting hard for around 4 months without taking my last week off
i recently did a squat cycle that was very intense
i am on day 4 of taking a week off and i feel better, and i feel like my gains are "settling in".
i feel better about myself, and i feel like hitting the weights hard again on friday :D

i'm very committed to taking recovery time. i'm always training for marathons, so, i'm running a varied program 4-5 days a week, plus cross-training, plus weights, plus yoga.

i have one recovery day every week then take a full week off every four months.

recovery is important for both my mental and physical progression.

If you are mentally burned out, that is a clear sign to take a breather. And probably go longer than a week, maybe a couple of weeks up to a month. You need to get your head back into the game.

Rest is as important if not more important that training. Your muscles need time to repair and recover and sometimes more importantly to grow. They are not able to do any of this if you do not give them rest. The result of not giving them rest is that you may not be able to get as much of of them as you would like as they are tired.
Rest is something that you should take very seriously as its a major part of the process. I would recommend 1-2 days rest per week and around 1 week rest every 3 months if you are training intensely.
One good thing about having a week off every few months is that it makes you more hungry for success and results when you come back.
