Hi, I'm 16½ years old, measuring at 6" 0', but I want to be 6" 3' by July at least?
I started drinking alot more milk. are there anything that could possibly have me grow taller faster? anything?

Yep, HGH when you were 10 years old. Simple Answer, no there is no possible way to get taller without some sort of rediculous surgery.

It is possible to get taller!!
now what im talking about is purely rational and have read it from books and i dont thinks age could be any barrier

the spine discs in between your vertrebrae are made of water absorbing material and protect your vertrebrae from rubbing against each other
often these spine discs get compressed due to pressure on the spine etc; thereby reducing the water content of the discs
stretching the spine stretches these discs which acts like sponge and absorb the water thus lengthening the spine and overall body height
typically athletes see height increases upto inches during such training
hope the explanation was understandable

what you can do perform this exercise which very well stretches the spine
bend forwards and try to touch your fingers to your toes
start slowly untill you master the exercise

finally an answer that isn't irrelevent.
I already do the touch toe touch exercise and can touch the floor with the palms of my hands, but I'll try some pull ups.

I know I'm still growing a little bit without special exercise because when I had my last physical, which was last month I was 5" 11½", meaning if I kept growing a ½ an inch a month, which I be 6" 1½' taller by July. I doubt that I would continue to gain ½ an inch a month though.

if you're only 16 you've still got between 3 and 5 years of growing to do!!

The stretching exercises are good for your back anyway, i do them to counteract being sat in a chair all day long and they do make you feel better. i was showed them by a posture expert who said you would stretch out an inch at most - but remember this is not growth you're just repositioning your vertebrae back to some sort of normality. head to toe you will still be the same 'length', you will just have a better upright posture and therefore seem taller.

as with most things your genes will determine your height. id love to be over 6 foot but it just wont happen as your cant make your bones grow.

also, the answers were not at all irrelevant. you phrasing made it sound a daft question but if you dont ask, you dont know. drinking milk does not make bones grow as protein does muscle; but it all doesnt matter as you have time to grow so dont worry about something you cant change.

Yeah you stop growing when you're 23 years old but between 16 and 23 you'd be lucky to get much more than an extra inch in height.

another exercise is the pull ups; not sure it stretches the spine though, but is does contribute to good height increases

Seriously... are you on drugs or just all around uninformed? This kind of crap response is what worries me about this forum.

Go with Benelson's comments. The only thing that will determine your height is your genes. If your parents are tall, there is a good chance that you will be too.

Very true JP. Height = genetics. I've been doing chins/pullups since I can remember and haven't gotten any taller.

you guys are all missing the obvious answer:
hang upside down by your knees from a jungle gym. Didn't any of you watch the Brady Bunch?
:)
(PS-I saw an interview with Michael Jordan and he said he tried it. The interviewer asked "did it work?" Michael's answer was "I don't know, but I'm tall.")

my appologies to all who are misled by my post

Maybe i was uninformed and irresponsible to not study it prior to posting
but id like to say that exercise does influence growth and inturn contributes to height increases ofcourse subject to your genes

i have been doing pull ups since two months and have seen upto 4 inches of increase in my height
maybe i my mind was prejudiced by my sucess :)

i am hereby editing my previous post

Sorry guys I left one detail out earlier...
Last 1-2 months ago i was 5" 11½' during my last physical. Right now stretching in the past couple days moved me up to 6" 1/8'.

I've read stretching and a good diet helps so that the cartiledge in your backbone becomes a little thicker and thus can help by increasing your height by 1-2 inches at max.

Heres some family history
My father is 5" 10' but is really spose to be 6" 2' because hes worked hard his whole life thus he got arthritis.
My mother is 5" 8'
My Older Sister is 5" 4'
My twin Sister is like 5" 6' I think
My mothers brother is 6" 1'
My fathers brother is 5" 8' I think
My great grand mother who has passed recently (she was my fathers grandmother and my fathers mother) was 5" 10.5" I think
I don't know my grand parients height.

Also my grand mother has another daughter who had a son who has 2 boys that are 6" 1" a daughter who is 5" 9' I think, and another son who is 23 years old and is 6" 8' and still growing. The mother to all these children is about 5" 9.5' .

I know there are some loops holes in this so it might be hard to figure out without the data of my grand parents.

First off, something that irked me - ' means foot, " means inch. You seems to have it the other way around.

Why do you want to be taller? For basketball or what? I think 6' is a good height and you should'nt stress out about it. I'm not really sure if anyone here can guess how tall you will be by your family history (not accurately anyway). I mean, I'm around 5' 10" - 5' 11" and my mother is barely 5'. She's a short one.

James Bond is 6' tall, are you trying to tell me you don't like James Bond? Tsk tsk.

It's in your genes just as everyone says, but you can make sure to reach your genetic potential(I hate that saying, but I couldn't think of anything else) by eating properly including getting enough vitamins and calcium..

Yup I take a multi vitamine everyone day, and thats probably why I've gained .625 inches of height in the past month.

I'm really not 6' 0", but actually 6' .125", but to me 1/8th of an inch really isn't anything because you're actually taller when you first wake up in the morning and 6' .125" is what i'm after a whole day when I measure my height once every 4 days at night before I go to sleep.

i tried to get some research done on the internet
Ive found some interesting facts

the stretching exercises mentioned previously have only a temperory on height and doesnt really last for more than a day

well i was beginning to wonder what about all those products on television and internet that testify height increases; that turns out to be people trying to earn a quick buck(half of them are scams)
people should find this site usefull

height increases are generally seen between the ages 15 to 20 in men
it is during this period that height increases maximum and the bones harden
once the bones are solid and hardened it is almost immposible to see any further height increases unless the temperory increase as mentioned above

height is a matter of genetics and exercise simply boosts this procees
hat off to you guys :)

hope everybody finds this piece of info usefull
i regret i hadnt done this before

so can someone clarify to me about the pull ups
i have seen news articles about pull ups as a height increaser
is this true or plain myth

I can only assume its a myth. Surely otherwise, everybody who did a lot of pullups as part of their workout would keep on growing indefinitely. Am I the only one who is a little concerned about this thread? As has been said already, your ultimate height is determined by genetics, not by excercise.

Have you considered wearing heels? ;)

I've heard one of the only true supplements that isn't a scam is few with the HGH. But that is also one of the most expensive ones and doesn't help your height as much as it says it does, but it does work from what I researched on.

I'm keeping this thread up because I have gained little traces of height in the past couple of days from stretching. Like the guy above said they may only last for a day or two, but I say just do the stretches every day and it shouldn't really matter.

One thing I've noticed is (this is an opinion), if you mainly use your two big toes to walk, it tends to help height at the beginning of the day that you gain when your a sleep stay with you longer. It is a fact that when you first wake up you're actually 1/8-1/2 of an inch taller and as you move around during the day gravity pushes down on you and pushes you back to normal height. Because i'm 6' 3/8" when I wake up and and 6' 1/8' by the end of the day usually.
