Hi All!

I've just finished my first month of active weight loss. I've tried in the past to make things work, but could never succeed. I've recently lost 200lbs - in the way of ending a 5 year relationship. In the span of that relationship I easily gained 40lbs- and I am now looking to do something for myself! I'm currently a PhD student, and spend an unhealthy amount of time in front of the computer working! I love what I do, and I love where I see my life going :)

I hope I can find the motivation, encouragement and community to be involved in. None of my friends and family are interested in weight loss and physical fitness...so I am looking to meet people who are! :)

Wow.
It's hard when no one around us seems to care about health or weight loss. Sometimes it can be hard to be around them since they have unhealthy habits that we are trying to avoid.

We understand and we will be here to motivate and support you!
Welcome!

hehe! I guess I should be clear - the -200lbs was my boyfriend!

Thank you for the post! You're right, it can be hard...losing weight is both a physical and mental challenge. And I have a wonderful and supporting group of friends and family, but they're not there to give me the extra push.

There are some days when I just don't want to go, and they'll say "well, take the day off, you're doing wonderful"...and that's fantastic! But sometimes you need to be told, "it's hard! But you're doing great! And you'll feel even better if you go".

I have checked the forum out- and it seems like a wonderful place, filled with great people :) I hope I can bring sometime too :)

Sometimes it's easier to motivate and encourage other people than yourself! But sometimes, by helping others, you can help yourself :)

I've just begun to be a morning person- it's hard!! And it's even harder when you try and cut out caffeine!

Welcome and congrats on your 200 lb loss haha! good luck 5 years is along time though. I have been with my wife 9 years but only married for 2.

Thank you Tob! Yes 5 years is a long time! But, they taught me a lot!

Wow 9 years! That's fantastic! How are you liking the married life? :)

Motivated is the way to be! As soon as I slow decrease my motivation - I'm gone! I want this SO bad this time, and I hope I can do it :) Staying positive and seeing the sunshine in everything is the way to do it! Also, if I do that all day, I'm too tired when i get home to mindlessly eat! :D
