I just read online that if your not a person who usually drinks the amount of water your supposed to in a day that when you start drinking water that is the reason you have to use the restroom so often. It said that once you start drinking water then your body will release the water it has stored up because it doesn't need to hold it the same because your putting more water into your body. Also that once your body gets used to you drinking more water that your trips to the restroom will get fewer. I was wondering if this seemed correct and is that why people alway say when you first start losing weight the first amount of loss is probably water weight loss? Thanks Christina

If you start drinking more water, you will have to make more trips to the bathroom, that being just a question of conservation of matter.

There is often a loss of water weight at the beginning of a diet, especially a low carbohydrate diet. This is caused by the body burning up its stores of glycogen, before it adapts to burning fat. Each molecule of glycogen is bound to four molecules of water, thus to use up the glycogen, we have to release water.
