Watch Gulianna Shrink

weigh in.

Today is Monday and I'm at a whoping 217.8. Im actually REALLY happy with that number. Even though it is a .2 gain from last week, it is reasuring to know that I can get lazy one week but still come close to maintaining. I just feel like I threw away a week :/

But enough with that, this is a new week. my goal for this week... get down to 215. I know I can do it if I stick to my guns!

the plan.

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday- elliptical 1 1/2 hours
Wednesday- Weight lifting 1 hour
Friday- Weight lifting 1/2 hour

Im also planning on taking a walk a night or two.

As far as eating goes still sticking to 1600cals. In other exciting food news... I tried cous cous for the first time today and DELISH! I had it with chicken smotherd in mushrooms, onions and a bit of lemon juice. Im really getting into these healthy reciepes!!

Good morning all. Its a beautiful 8am here. Sitting on my sofa eating a big, fat, juicy, japanese peach. Yumo.

Well yesterday went great. I went to the gym for an hour and 20 minutes. 1 hour on the elliptical, 20 minutes on the bike. Im really becoming fond of the bike. You can really feel the burn, pretty much instantly. Then later that evening me and my son went for a stroll to a park near by.

I also went to a Japanese farmers market. Did I mention I live in Japan? Well, I live in Japan C: It just so happens that their produce is devine. I bought a big sack of peaches, apples, oranges, grapes, cucumbers and lettuce. Gotta love it.

yesterdays menu.
this isn't going to be very detailed because I dont have my paper with me.

BFAST-
kashi cereal w/ 1 cup non fat milk
strawberries

LUNCH-
lettuce turkey wraps
small salad

DINNER-
lean cuisine meal

SNACKS-
1 peach, 1 orange, some baby carrots, vanilla yogurt.

Oh. Did I mention my newest love affair with vanilla yogurt? It is God-sent! I cant believe I have never tried it before. I crave it a lot throught the day. But hey, its better then craving brownies C:

Wow... you've just powered through your weeks. I'm amazed and jealous at how well you're doing! Keep up the great work!

Wow... you've just powered through your weeks. I'm amazed and jealous at how well you're doing! Keep up the great work!

Thank you!! I appriciate that so much. Sometimes I am my own worst critic so its really reassuring to hear things like that. Good job on your 6 lbs! I know how each pound is so exciting and rewarding! Keep it up C:

I just finished my lunch after a nice sweaty workout. I started doing my workouts in the morning now because my husband changed shifts. I must say, I like it better then working out at night. I feel a lot more energized then I usually do this point of the day.

When I weighed myself at the gym this morning I realized that tommorow marks the 1 month since I started my journal and really kicked my weight loss off again. Tommorow when I go in I would love to see a 215. For 2 reasons. One being that I haven't seen 215 in a long time. Second being, that would mark a 10lb loss for this past month. C: Which would also mean an averaged 2.5lb loss each week. Greatness. Here is to hoping. I know I probably shouldnt focus too hard on the numbers, especially because of the fact that they fluctuate so often but I for me personally watching the numbers helps a lot.

menu.
Here is what I have ate today so far

BFAST-
1 cup Vanilla yogurt
Handful of Kashi cereal
1 peach
=380

LUNCH-
3 chicken breast tenderloins
2 roma tomato
1 cup chopped mushrooms
3 slices of red onion
fatfree italian dressing
1 cup rotini
= 500

SNACKS-
1 apple
=65

My evening snack is going to be a 90 cal popcorn bag. Dinner- 3 chicken breast tenderloins and a green giant rice and broccoli packet. 450 dinner.

Which brings me to around 1500 cals. I burned 650 cals at the gym this morning.

Today= sucess C:

Welp, as of this morning I am weighing in at 216.4. I have lost 8.6lbs in a month. Awesome right?! Okay let me get my thoughts out...

I dont know if I am being too hard on myself or what but I am feeling really disapointed. I cannot let myself get over the fact I blew last week. Not to mention the fact that since I blew last week I have been still treating myself a little too frequently. Of which I of course beat myself up about later in the day. I know I am losing weight at a steady and safe pace so its not that Im dissapointed that my numbers arent dropping more then they are.. Its just that I still havent cut back like I need to. I still let myself give into temptation wayy to easy. Like today, I had a candy bar. Really?! A candy bar? Ugh. I think this kind of thinking is going to be hard to break. For my entire adult life I have always critisized every calorie that went in my mouth then that always followed with a beat down. Has anyone else ever felt like this? I really need stop letting myself have little things here and there.

I also dont think my switch of reciepes was the best move. I was losing weight and enjoying my meal plan before I switched it and now I am thinking I should go back to it. So next week Im going to go grocery shopping and load up on my original goods.

Well those are my thoughts for the night, time for bed.

Cheers!

Good Morning! Although it has only been two days since my "meltdown" I am feeling good about the groove I am in. I have started writing down my meal plan in the begining of the day instead of just eating something then adding it to my list. This way it truely is more of a plan. Its 9AM now. Heres my plan for the day. I dont plan on exercising much today. Saterday is mine and my Husbands relax-around-the-house day. Although thinking about it maybe Ill go on a short brisk walk later in the afternoon C:

food plan.

BFAST-
protein shake 220
frozen strawberries-50
melba crackers 50
=320

LUNCH-
quesidilla w/ salsa and 1/2cup low fat cheese- 450

SNACK- frozen strawberries- 100

DINNER-
honey mustard 100
chicken breast 150
ginger cous cous & sweet peas 250
=500

SNACK-
14 baby carrots- 35

That will total out to about 1405cals. Greatness.

getting personal.

Well we have officially found a house that we are planning on buying. I tell you the moving process excites me! We move in early December and it cannot come any sooner. I am so ready to get back to the US of A C: It has been a really big push of mine during this weight loss journey. I want so desperately to be able to do some chic clothes shopping. I cannot wait!!

We also got the official date of the cruise. We will be leaving on December 18th. Which is exactly 14 weeks away from today. Its funny when you start to see weeks as lbs ;D

I wonderd if any of you had advice on eating healthy while going out of town. Especially to stay with family for a few weeks. I know a lot of people dont post on my diary but if you have any good tips on how to sucessfully stay on the wagon please please let me know. I would very much appriciate it.

My in-laws eat very unhealthy. Lots and lots of fried, bacon smootherd, greasy food. Im wondering if I should do some light grocery shopping for myself but I don't want to offend them somehow. Also, how do you get your workouts in? I guess I wont have my 24hr open gym to go to anymore. I will have to figure out to do it at home or outside. Atleast they live in the South so it doesnt get too cold in December. hmm. Well like I said I would love any tips or to hear from people with experience on that.

Just checking in to let you all know how today went.

I stuck to the meal plan to the "T" C: And I was satisfied all day long. Never full or hungry. Lovely!!

I went to the gym for an hour but just did some light exercise. 20 minutes on the elliptical burnt 250 cals. And then weight lifting for 40 minutes.

I think tommorow I am going to come up with a better weight lifting plan because as of right now I just go in their and lift whatever catches my eye and its always random.

Welp thats it for today. Hopefully tommorow is just as great!!

Hi again Gulianna!!

I just read through every post in your diary!! I'm really enjoying it! I can relate to so many of the things you're saying - about how you snack on something you shouldn't and it brings you down. And your list of reasons why you want to lose weight - I can totally identify with them all! (Except maybe the ones involving your husband or son! Congratulations btw!) But I want to say - as hard as it is not to feel down when you have a mishap, I really do think you should go easier on yourself!!! You've not only lost a fantastic amount of weight, but you also doing it in such a healthy way! If you keep up as you are (and I'm sure you will because you seem so enthusiastic about all your new recipes and elliptical (what is that by the way...?)) then not only will you steadily keep losing weight but you'll be able to keep it off!! And trust me, that is so important. I lost about 50lbs or so a few years ago, and I kept it off for about 2 years but then piled it back on again when I started working at a pub, and then uni. And, as I'm sure you know after putting weight back on from 16lbs yourself, there's nothing worse!
So if you're having a more relaxing week, then just enjoy it and go into the next week grateful of the relaxing time you had and get back into your routine. It's far better and more healthy to do that than power on through every week and end up resenting the gym and your healthy dinner. You're doing fantastic so just remember that =)

As for those few weeks with your family ... Personally I'd just say just do what you can, day by day. It'll be hard to make a routine for yourself when you have no idea what you'll be doing. Maybe google workouts you can do in your home, and then you can lock yourself in your bathroom or bedroom or whatever and do them when you can! Also just make the most of going on walks, seeing all the sights, and make use of any swimming pools if they have them! Swimming is a great workout while on holiday I think! And food-wise I'd recommend just saying beforehand that you're on a healthy eating plan and don't want it to go down the drain while your on holiday, so you were wondering if it'd be alright if you bought some shopping to take with you. They won't mind I'm sure, as long as you're not forcing them to eat the same stuff! Haha.

Hope you're having a nice saturday!

Sare xx

Wow. Your diary is very inspiring =) Though I noticed you mentioned you sometimes skip your workouts, maybe you would be less willing to skip if you mixed up your workouts more to make them more interesting?

Wow! Thanks so much for your responce!! Thanks for what you said about being too hard on myself. What you said really clicked with me. I just need to let go of that week and use that focus towards the one I am currently in. I read on here somewhere someone said "if you screw up one week all that means is it will take one week longer to get to your goal." That really is sitting with me and makes me feel better.

Thanks for your thoughts on losing weight while on vacation. At the very least I want/need to atleast maintain. If I dont lose much it wont be the end of the world but I dont want to undo what I have worked hard for kwim! Well, keep losing and keep smiling C:

Thank you Vampire!! That is so sweet of you to say C: I actually love my workouts. Im madly in love with the elliptical. I wasnt bored of them I just had a switch of routine due to my husbands work (shift change). It meant that I would have to take my son with me to the parent room and I couldnt. The temperature was reading 100+ degrees and it makes his ezcema break out all over his body :/ But luckily my Husband is back to his "regular" shift and I can in the morning by myself.

Sorry I havent been on for a few days but it has been a crazy week so far. This is only going to be a short update. To sum it up my son was having breathing problems the other night and we ended up having to take him to the ER. He is fine now but we still haven't found any diagnosis.

As far as weight loss, I am down t 215.8 as of monday.

I just read through your whole diary and it's very inspiring!
You and I seem to be at similar places in our weight loss mentality. I'm finally at the place where I realize that food isn't an activity. It should just be to my benefit, and if it tastes good while doing that all the better!

I think you've done a good thing by planning your meals out in the morning. It makes it much easier to stick to your calories and it also helps because you don't have the option of making a bad decision for dinner just because you don't know what you're gonna have.

In other news, I'm sorry to hear about your son! I hope they can find out what's up and that it was just a one time thing!

Keep up the amazing work! :)

Awe. Thanks so much for your words about my baby. It means a lot. Luckily he hasn't had any more problems and seems to be perfectly fine. I hope it continues and it was just a fluke!!

SlytherinQueen, Im glad you find my diary inspiring!! What you said about food is totally true for me. I view it more as fuel now. I also like what you said about planning meals in the morning. It really does help prevent you from making a bad decision!! You dont have to decide when you are hungry and want food fast. That is just a bad equation for me!

So here we go.. back on the ball!!

Everyone have a blessed weekend!!
Gulianna
