Was 200lbs, now 230lbs, flab be gone if i hit 170..? (jogging..?)

Hello everyone it's my first post here. I would have posted this in the mens section of weight loss...but i couldn't find it....ladies i need help lol. To give you a quick run down, i'm Male 5'8, medium boned, and weigh 230lbs now...i'm 25 btw.

Now in the past i've been 270lbs and shot down to 200lbs QUICK, like in 5 months very strict low cal/low fat diet with pretty much no exercise except walking (like 3 times a week). At 200lbs i could only jog for 6 minutes then i would be dead out of breathe. Along with that, i did have flab (or fat) still on my body but i did look good-when i was naked though, you could tell i had fat on my thighs, belly, and still had love handles.

So far i've read that the only way to get rid of flab and fat from hot spots (belly/love handles/butt) is to just LOSE MORE WEIGHT. Mainly do cardio, jogging, and still diet to lose weight. Now my main question to you guys, is that if i did go down to 170lbs (which is what i'm supposed to be) would i have gotten rid of the fat on my belly/sides/butt etc..?

My doctor said it exactly like this..."you did lose alot of weight, going down to 200 from 270...but you STILL had more weight to go, and should be 170".. He said if i went down to 170 the fat all over would be gone, even with no exercise...just continue to jog and it will melt off any flab.

PS, currently i'm dieting and losing weight..like 2lbs a week, and i want to go down to 170. I stayed at 200 last time cause i got too "content" so to speak, yet i was never REALLY happy cause i never hit the goal of 170. Now i aim to do it, and i want to make sure jogging and dieting will be good. I don't wanna weight train yet, i'll do that when i'm skinny to build myself up.

Congrats on all of your accoomplishments so far. I would like to add this:

STRENGTH TRAIN :D

You need lean muscle mass. The more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn each day.

It sounds like you are motivated and willing to put in the work. That's the hard part and you are already succeeding :)

2 pounds of fat loss per week is just about right. As your body weight changes, your caloric needs will change. Keep your diet updated.

Good luck :)

Hi,
Congrats ont he weight loss so far. I agree with Lynn, you need weight training! If you start training however, keep in mind that if you add msucle weight your scale weight may go up. However, you will likely still be losing some fat, so don't be discouraged.
If you haven't ever weight trained before, start with a program designed by a trainer. You'll love the results.

You are right on track. Anywhere from 1-3 pounds/week as a weight loss goal is perfect.

I added weight training and it did help, but I would keep the cardio in high gear....maybe set a goal of doing a triathlon or a 5K to keep you motivated.

Thanks alot ladies, yeah it takes time..that's what i've learned over the coarse of a couple years.

You have to look at it as let's say 6 months.. You lose 2lbs a week=8lbs a month X's 6=48lbs lost in 6 months... 6 months goes like nothing.

Thanks again.
