Want to workout, but have no time

hey. i have access to equiptment, but the thing is, that i never really have anytime. i work 5 days a week loading trucks(so that usually tires me out), then i have 2 days off, where i like to go out and enjoy myself, so i dont really want to do a full workout on those days.

im not fat or out of shape, but im not cut up or anything either. i have a bench, barbell, dumbells, and a tredmil at my house, so i can just go and workout, but i'm usually so tired. i come home from work and i go out, then i come home and sometimes work out, then im too tired for work the next day. i need some balance.

another problem that i have is, that every now and then i'll go and do a chest or back or bicep workout and not do it again for another two weeks.

does anyone have any workout plans, that i can do maybe one or two days per week, that wont totally knock me out for work or wont consume too much time?

i also try to eat as healthy as i can, but i need to eat a lot because if i dont eat for like 2-3 hours my stomach feels really empty and i need to eat something, so for the most part i eat 5 times a day, most of them as healthy as possible.

thanks

:D diet sounds good enough, good that u eat 5 times a day :) most ppls eat like one big meal and thats no good.
Perhaps u can work out 3 times a week, shoulders/triceps one day
biceps/back another day,
and chest and legs .

Perhaps u can superset, or giant set them , so u can rip them off fast, and still see results over time. Workouts would only take u around 30 mins tops.

Just a suggestion! good luck!! keep the diet clean!

what kind of workouts are only 30 mins, but successful? like what exercises and how many sets/reps, ect?

Can you integrate your workout into your work? Are you loading trucks by hand or with a hand truck or forklift? If you do some of your loading by hand, can you adjust some of your movements on different days to work particular muscle groups? Day one could be squat day, where you add plenty of extra squats to your usual work activity. Day two could be chest/back day where you add overhead lifts and do chin-ups on the back end of each truck. Seems like you might have a lot of opportunity to work out on the job. I know some steel workers that (intentionally) get a helluva workout every day on the job, and rarely go to the gym. I'd like to find more exercises that I could integrate into my work. I do a fair amount of stair climbing and walking, but other than that mostly just sitting.

how about 2 or 3 days a week:

run to a nearby playground
chin-up: as many as you can
Dips (monkey bars or swing): to exhaustion
push-ups: as many as you can
sprint the length of a filed or 2-3 sprints up a hill

repeat 2-5 times.
Run home

vary the chin-up grip and push-up width

Hey Seyz,

It sounds to me like you have a lack of energy and vitality... and in your attempts to fit your weight training into your day you are finding that recovery is almost impossible.

Your situation may be called "sympathetic overload". And I assure you that it is not condusive to muscle or strength gain. When you're in this state of imbalance your body will flood your system with catabolic hormones such as cortisol & adreneline... both give you energy but at the expense of muscle tissue and even causes you to store fat. In fact if you are truly in sympathetic overload you may even become weaker, have comprimised immunity, low sex drive, headaches, muscle aches and the list goes on...

This is your autonomic nervous systems response to "beating a dead horse". You mentioned your diet, but this is only a fraction of the elements necissary for your body to regain balance and become more ANABOLIC!! (para-sympathetic response)... and besides if you are eating but are hungry within 2 hours it is an obvious sign that you are not eating correctly for your metabolic type (another issue).

So, what the hell are you gonna do?

First, are you getting enough sleep (8 hrs. between 10:00pm and 6am);

next, what kind of other stressors are you dealing with? - are you broke, does your girlfriend cheat on you, is your job in jeapordy... stess in all of its forms will keep you in your "imbalanced" state, essentially your nrevous system thinks you are being chased by a tiger and there is no time to take a dump much less build muscles. (oh yea, do you take a dump everyday or is there really a tiger chasing you... constipation?)

next, forget it... i can go on -- the bottom line is that there IS time to train but you are too run down to do it. Just think, if primal man spent all day building a hut and it came dinner time - do you think he would have enough energy to buffalo hunting? Of couse, because he goes to sleep when the sun goes down, he has no worries excpet survival and he's GOTTA eat --and you've GOTTA train.

Take care of your body and it will take care of you! Train Hard, Eat Hard & Sleep Hard.

In Service,
Elliott "The Primal Guy"
