Want to lose weight-- How original !

Hi. I am a 58 year old man 5' 11" large frame weighing at around 117Lbs (17st 3Lbs) I was a sportsman in my youth and I have had an ACL reconstruction on my left knee and I have a ruptured ACL on my right knee, as well as a a 3 menisectomies one open in 1976. Therefore my knees are very creaky and hurt. Running is quite difficult. I stopped playing Rugby, Football, Cricket and Athletics ( I was a sprinter in my youth) and I took up Tennis in the 1980's I had to stop playing Tennis after my ACL reconstruction in 1993. I then played with the use of knee braces. All was fine until I stopped smoking in 2006 (I had given previously for 10 years and put on huge amounts of weight) once again I have put on around 30Lbs (15kgs ish)

I am medicated for Hypertension (High Blood Pressure since 1988) this is under control, I am also medicated for moderately high cholesterol although this I feel is not absolutely necessary. I am not a drinker and occasional beer or an occasional glass of wine with a meal)

I would like to lose around 10kgs quickly, I know that weight loss is not rocket science and as I TCM practitioner I advise people on dietary issues, not necessarily for weight loss. All said and done I find it difficult to lose weight, I would like to lose the 6-10 kgs in the next 6 weeks before I go on holiday. I read with interest the guy who rides 25miles per day.... I have tow children to look after so I don't have time for that. I can not see the wood for the trees as they say. Anyone got any help. PS I cook all the meals for the family and I cook Italian and Indian meals (I'm Italian my other half is Indian) if anyone has any magical ideas please contact me. Thanks
