Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new in forums so please bear with me.

Is 10 lbs. in 1 mo. too much for me to dream of? I'm not the exercising type of person since I'm too busy being an employee, a wife, a mother, a daughter and more. In short, I got no time for gyms. Also, my work involves all day sitting. I live a sedentary lifestyle I guess. This is why I think I'm left with dieting if I really wanted to lose weight. What would you guys suggest for a person with a lifestyle like me to lose 10lbs. in 1 mo.? I'm thinking of "no-rice diet". What do you guys think?

TIA

Hi

I lost 12lbs in 4 weeks so it is definitely achievable. However for that kind of weight loss purely from dieting alone, it will take quite a big change. For example, completely cutting out all carbs (no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes) and filling up on fruit throughout the day. Make sure you still eat enough (never go hungry). For lunch you could have some kind of meat/fish with salad. Dinner could be meat/fish with lots of veg.

Obviously no crisps, chocolate, sweets. It is possible but you will have to be very strict with your diet for that kind of weight loss in such a short time.

Ten pounds in a month is not too much. Most people recommend 1-2 pounds a week, in a four week month that would be 8 pounds but ten is not going to hurt you. It can be done... nay... it WILL be done, by you. Checking your current eating habits, sleeping habits have to be taken into consideration. You can lose weight without working out. You should keep in mind, if you lose the ten pounds, but go back to old habits the weight will pile right back on. So making an adjustment lifestyle wise is what I'd recommend most. Welcome to the forum.

@RedUK Thanks for the advise. But without carbs, won't I go hungry? Would it still be alright if I eat no-carbs food for more than 3 times a day? Just in case I get hungry? What do you think? Just sad since I'm a fan of pasta and potatoes.

@dudeitstime I know! That's what I'm afraid of about crash diets. I just know that even if I get my goal with their specified recipes like for one week, when I get back to my old habits, I'm afraid my lost weight will come back with a revenge. LOL Anyway, thanks for the welcome, happy to be here. Right now, I guess, my first choice is Low Carbs High Protein diet as a lifestyle change too. But I hope I can explore some more suggestions since I'm a die-hard fan of pasta and potatoes. :blush5:

I don't think it is a good idea to eliminate entire food groups without a medical reason. Carbs are fuel for the body. 10 lbs in one month is doable but it will be easier with diet and exercise. Also, if you just focus on doing whatever it takes to loose the weight now, it will all come right back once you return to your normal routine. You have to find a way to make a lasting lifestyle change that you can stick with so that you can keep the weight off for good.

I would recommend downloading the My Fitnesspal app. It takes into consideration your height and weight and sets a calorie allowance based on the amount of pounds you would ideally like to lose a week.

I've been sticking to this, I haven't denied myself of anything, I still have carbs (I'm a massive bread addict), meat, veggies, fruit, chocolate chip cereal bars for if I fancy something a bit sweet. I have everything I used to eat but just in moderation. I have also been making sure I drink 2 litres of water every day without fail... this helps flush your system and it fills you up inbetween meals. I also try to do a little exercise everyday ... I cant afford a gym membership at the moment, so I exercise at home or go for a jog or a walk.

In my first week I lost 6pounds (a lot of it probably just water weight) but the number on the scale has gone down! I think if you was to stick to this you could definitely lose 10pounds in a month.

Best of luck!

Hello just wanted to share my experience on how to lose fat.

to lose weight is not an easy job you really have to prepare mentally for it.
there is no easy way around it only hard work and motivation.

if you will follow this plan for a month i can guarantee you will loss weight fast:
1. go for morning walks. (on empty stomach)
2. do stomach vacuums 3 times a week for 10 - 15mins. (really effective exercise that can be done anywhere anytime)
3. cut you'r daily calories intake.
4. avoid high calorie food's for example instead of white rice eat brown rice or oatmeal.
5. avoid food's with sugar AKA lactose, glucose, sucrose.( no sweets, cakes, milk etc..,no sugar substances either)
6. avoid food's with salt AKA sodium.
7. avoid fat,oil (instead of ham eat chicken breast, instead of frying pan use the oven )
8. eat vegetables (no fruits as fruits contains fructose. vegetables only)
9. drink more water (no sweet drinks, energy drinks, shakes, artificial juices. water only)

10. eat 5 to 6 small meals a day this way you wont go hungry and wont gain extra weight.

one more thing i would suggest adding an exercise(like running, swimming etc..) to this plan at least twice a week this way you will lose weight at even faster rate.

Hi Tia It is possible. I lost my first 10 lbs in about 10 days this time following the low carb diet on Dr. Oz's site. I followed his plan pretty closely at first and after that it has been 1-2 lbs weekly. I don't count calories and I have not been hungry at all. I have not done very much exercising myself mostly due to time .... so it is possible. The fun part is once you get started and see the weight going down it becomes like a fun game. Everytime I get on the scale and see another pound gone I give out a big YES !!!

hi
I too am in same problem. I lost around 10 lbs with yoga without any diet change and looking forward to lose 14 lbs more. if anyone could suggest diet changes or adding any more exercise. gained weight mainly because of leaving college and joining work force. working means sitting all day and doing paper work. doesnt help when every other person you meet cant help but comment on you weight.:banghead:

Hello Tia !

Here are some suggestions !

1) Each week, have 1 day 100% Fruits (Obviously not Banana, Mango and like that, go with Melons, Lime, Apple, Peach, Pear, Berries etc)
Each week, have 1 day 100% Veggies (Obviously not Potato, Sweet Potato, Cauliflower etc)
3rd Day should be Fruits + Veggies both
4th Day make it all Protein day start your day with Egg Whites
5th Day - lets call it Juices Day - go for Detox Juices (Veggies+Fruits) no added sugar
6th Day - Soups ?
7th Day - Any 1 from above.

I have researched many people have lost over 7lbs in 10 days just with this diet.

3) Do HIIT exercise (Check this
4) Daily Walk/Run at least 30-40 minutes, start with 5.5 and on each minute or 2 increase 0.5 speed till 6.5 then come back to 5.5.
5) No Fat - No Sugar - Only drink should be WATER and drink plenty of it. Ah, yes you can drink as many Green Tea as possible. That will keeps your Metabolism elevated.
6) No Cheat Days
7) No OR very low carbs.
8) Eat More and More protein - Tuna, Turkey, Chicken lean meat.
9) LESS SODIUM ! This is quite important.
