hi everyone, my name is zara and i'm new on this forum.after reading some of your stories i'm hoping i too can achieve some level of success.i don't have much to lose but i'm one of those people who take ages to shed 1lb.i've been brisk walking for 40 mins a day 6-7 days a week for the past month and i don't feel like i've lost any weight at all.i am 5ft 4 and weigh 130 lbs i would like to go down to 120lbs. how long do you think i would take to lose 10 lbs if i carried on at my present rate of walking?

I personally think it all depends on what you eat. For excample: If one was to change one's diet to consume about 200 less more calories a day, it makes a huge difference. I reduced my calorie intake by 500 calories a day, and lose about 2-3 lbs. a week. I excersized before the calorie reduction, and do the same amount of excersize now, and weight didn't go away with just excersize. I dont know anyhting about your diet, just a little advise!

But all in all, give it a month, stay positive and don't get discouraged! This site is a great place to get it done!:)

i think my diet is not too bad.i start the day with a large mug of hot water with 1 tsp of honey and lemon.i've gone off toast at breakfast so its usually a bowl of low fat cereal.lunch is either pitta bread and hummus or crumpets or something light. dinner is the main meal ,either pasta or meals cooked with little veg oil.i have a sweet tooth but i do try to control myself, sometimes though you just can't help but succumb:cry:i've tried before but this time round i am determined to lose weight.i have a wedding to go to in 6 weeks and i would love it if i managed to loose any weight at all.here's hoping.

do you think my problem is that i don't take enough calories? i read somewhere that if you do not eat a certain number of calories ,then you body holds on to the fat thinking its in starvation mode and so will not burn the fat.sounds a little suspect but is there any truth in it.example of what i ate today:

breakfast:mug of hot water with 1tsp of honey and apple cider vinegar
snack:1 orange
lunch:sandwich with very little cheese.tomato onion and pepper,no butter or mayonnaise
supper:mug of tea, spinach with chicken breast and naan bread.

that is my average food consumption each day.i might occasionally have some maltesers or a cookie but thats about it.

do you think that if i did step aerobics for 30 mins and a brisk walk 15 a day i will get any results?

I would definitely try to log all you eat and total how many calories you're taking in daily. I use fitday.com to keep track of everything I eat, and it really helps me manage my diet and my exercise. Like you, I don't have much to lose, and those can be the hardest pounds to take off.

Looking at your diet you listed, it does seem a little small. On average I eat about 1200-1300 calories daily - I am 5'0" and I weigh 106 currently. I exercise daily, and I am losing weight on this diet. Make sure you are getting enough protein too. Lifting weights or doing some sort of strength training can help boost your metabolism and prevent you from losing muscle along with fat.
