Wal-mart is really starting to piss me off!

Yes I agree.. i have never found any work out clothing for us plus size women at Walmart, and the last time i was there i asked if there was anything, the lady tld me all they have is the strechy pants and i could get a plain teeshirt.. umm yea thanks. the pants were like DRESS pants just without a zipper. I'll be happy to work out in that.. ha!
So i dont go to walmart.

Target does have a good amount of plus size work out clothing, so that's where i go. although the woman's pants only have a small back pocket. the mens have 2 pockets for the active wear... so yea i wear men's :)

XD Well, I've actually been considering sending them a letter. I'm a very opinionated person, and will tell off just about anyone if they work me up enough. ( there's pros and cons to this).

Thanks for your suggestions everyone.
I also have my mom looking out for some at thrift stores (I'm really not picky, if it's been washed, I don't care who has worn it ((so long as it's not underwear or bathing suits))).

As for the Walmart letter, i'm with ya Low. Even though i dont go there anymore for workout clothing, it would be nice to have better plus size clothing period. We should have everyone write a letter... power in numbs??

and yes maleficent you're right.. honey catches more flies than vinegar:)

Why would you be afraid to complain? Are they going to send the walmart greeter to your house and beat you senseless?

you're the customer... if you're not getting service you expect, you shouldn't keep it to yourself - let the company know how you feel. How is the store to know there's a problem, unless you speak up.

And sometimes complaining just brings comic relief - I wrote an email to a certain big name company saying I wouldn't buy any of their products as long as they used a current chemical I refuse to eat in said products... I got a letter back basicallg saying thanks but go suck eggs and they'd be sending me coupons for my trouble :)

What chemical? i keep thinking HFCS but that's not a chemical so...

Just thought I would put my .02 in on this.
A good friend of mine moved to Canada 2 years ago from the States. Her hubby was relocated for his job.
She too complains about the quailty and selection that they have at the Walmarts in Canada.
In fact she won't buy anything from them. I don't blame her.
As for finding plus size workout clothing, did you happen to stop and look at the sizes on any of the pretty colorful stuff? Cuz' my store puts all the sizes together in one area of the store. For the Womens workout stuff that is. And that is exactly where I found my stuff. XXL. But it was in the regular sized section.
I don't want to wear colorful pants so chose the black and the grey. However they had lots of colorful workout tanks. And plenty of them were XXL. I do know that they tend to put things out waaaaay ahead of schedule as far as seasons go. So our workout stuff was put out in December for all the New Year's Resolutions. And if you wait then the size selection does kinda dwindle down.
As far as writing a letter I say go for it. Thou I do agree with Mal in that you do it the right way.
On the whole I don't have any gripes against Wallyworld. Though I do agree that lots of times there selections of clothes for bigger girls is just plain ugly. But usually that is not Walmarts fault but the dictacts of what society thinks is in style that particle season. Some seasons we get lucky that the styles look good on us and other seasons there is no way that I would be caught dead in them.

Blah, the adventures of shopping while being overweight :( I'm sorry you had trouble, I hate it too! But thankfully, I'm sure in a short time we won't fall into that category for much longer!

Not really exercise clothes(althought you can exercise in t-shirts like I do! =P ), but I think I am going to order this shirt! :p

"Operation Shrink a Bootie"

I love it!

Yeah, trying to find workout clothing is a bit harder when you are plus size. It hasn't been that hard for me (thankfully) because for being 250 lbs, I fit into an XL perfectly.

I know that stores like Target and Wal Mart sell clothing based on the people who live around them. For Example:

I've noticed that if I go to a Wal Mart in Chandler, AZ that the plus size section is really tiny compaired to the Wal Mart in Casa Grande, AZ. It's mainly due to the people in that Area. Casa Grande is near a reservation and most of the Native's that I know are plus size, so their plus size selection is way bigger than normal. However, in Chandler, there are a lot more Slender people and some older ones, so their plus size selection isn't quite as big and their Womens section cater to the older crowd.

Oh, and clothing made in Mexico, I've found to be a size bigger than the size on the tag. So, if it's an XL and Made in Mexico, and you wear a XXL... try it on anyway.

My issue with Walmart clothes is that they now seem to be made incredibly poorly - very flimsy, cheap material, etc. :cuss:It galls me to pay *new* prices for things that should be at least as inexpensive as those bought at a thrift store!

cheers

I think Wal Mart is heading toward downsizing what's in it's stores overall. You can order just about anything on their web site and have it delivered to a store near you.

As for work out gear - I love capris. I'm not fashion conscious at all, so I go for comfort and cover all the way :p.

The WalMart near here has a very good selection for plus size (there are a lot of heavy people around here). I am pleased to say, however, I graduated down into normal size clothing last year. Unfortunately, the clothes they have for normals are butt ugly and made of polyester for the most part. YUCK.

God Bless,

Yeah, I hate the quality of clothing from Wal Mart.

I normally go there first to look at the prices of Shampoos and Dvd's to see if they are onsale, then I go to Target to buy the stuff. LoL. I'm a Target shopper. Maybe beacuse my previous job was working at Target overnight stocking the stuff for 3 years. Maybe because my job was stocking the products and putting up the signs for the products on ad, I've found that their prices are a bit better than Wal Marts. But when it does come to clothing, I get my clothes from Target. Their stuff is cuter and of way better quality in my opinion.

I too have noticed that Wal Marts clothing has become cheaper in quality and somewhat thrift shop looking.

Oh, as for Wal Mart downsizing. Haha.. I dont think that's going to happen. I think that it's crazy. There is this one area in Arizona by where there are 3 Walmarts... within 1 mile from one another! Now that's crazy. Plus, I read somewhere that Wal Mart is thinking about putting Medical Clinics inside of some of them. I guess it will be between Customer Sevice, The Eye Doctors, Nail / Hair salon, and Food corts that are inside of them. Haha... Plus, there have been a couple of them over here in AZ that have been turing into Wal Mart Supercenters w/ the grocery store inside.

The concept of making some items available only through online ordering in order to make room for other things that sell well regionally is not crazy - it's smart business. It cuts down on shipping and reduces overhead.

The Walmart here - some stuff you just can't get any longer. They have all of 5 - yep, count em' - 5 work out videos. But they offer well over 100 on line.

Now if you go to Pittsburgh, they have TONS of workout videos, or in any of the larger Walmarts in Ohio - same deal. Plus they have alot of things we just don't have here - furniture items, toys, some clothing items, household items.

They are stocking the stores according to what has historically sold the most in each region rather than stocking the stores with everything available to Wal Mart as a national chain, forcing people to shop online if they want certain things, or to go elsewhere in town - which isn't such a bad thing, IMO.

God Bless,

I work at walmart (fashion processor) and we have stuff that sits.. and sits.. and sits.. until it's clearanced down to $1.00. They see this and just get rid of the item altogether and bring in something new.

As for getting plus workout gear, check the regular athletic clothes, we just group all the sizes together.

they just assume fatties will never exercise so they don't need exercise clothes?

This actually made me lol for some reason.

I can't say I share your pain with finding exercise that remain affordable. Walmart doesn't irritate me, which is a good thing because I have 3 in my town, because I mostly use it for emergency stuff at 1am. Have you tried Kohls? My girlfriend has a love affair with that place. In some ways I'm jealous. I wish she looked at me like a sale price on a pretty blouse sometimes. The words tiger, hunt, and defenseless come to mind.
