Wake up call

I just wanted to say hello to everybody in this forum and hopefully I get welcomed here with open hands. I am a 29 year old male from the great state of Arizona. I'm currently 6'0" and about 309 pounds. I will be trying to add a picture at a later time if possible.
So the story is that I made myself a promise that I will get fit in 2010. I don't have the energy that I used to have and I'm wanting to get that back. I used to break dance and spinning on your head and doing all those crazy handstands took a lot of energy which I don't have no more. I want that back and I'm here to get the help from anybody that could help me with a diet and some great exercise ideas. I'm hoping to get to know some great people that are wanting the same goal as me and hopefully our goals become a reality. Now let's get those pounds off!

MACHETE - I'm new too. You and I are about in the same boat. Nearly the same age, and sounds like we're both just tired of it!

Take a look at my introduction post, Im sure you can relate.

Good luck, and I wish you the best!

Hey Machete

I appreciate your desire to make a big change for yourself in 2010. I have never had to "think" about weight loss either. I have never had to do anything except to just channel my energy to anything I wanted and I would look fantastic. So when I gained 20 pounds suddenly, I was not sure what that was all about. So I decided to change nothing. Just to observe. So the only thing that I did this year, for the first time in my life, is to write down everything that I eat everyday. It is incredible to see how many calories are in things that I ate. For instance:

1 slice of cheese - 200 calories
a splash of half and half in my coffee - 20 calories

So, do it. Just write down stuff...pencil, crayon, computer spreadsheet. But do not change anything yet. Just watch.

Good advice.

I'm going to give that a try.
