Vibrating Plate? Where can I try this thing?

Hi, I'm brand new to this forum. I just read this article and have been looking all over for a vibrating plate to try:

Anyone know who carries them? Ok, it might be a fad but I gotta try it out ;)

HAha that thing gives me other thoughts :p too funny but I think its aload of crap and probably isn't so good for the joints and bones IMO..

Some of the universities in their strength lab will carry a variation of this thing. The guy that introduced me to Oly lifting and is finishing PhD was showing me the one they have at OU. In theory it looks and sounds pretty cool but I haven't seen it used for application so I can't comment on its effectiveness for athletic training.

I would avoid it for 'sculpting' purposes.

"Manufacturers claim that the vibrating platform offers the same benefits of an hour-long sweaty gym workout in just 15 minutes with the machine burning the calories for you."

I find this hard to believe....:confused:

my gym has 2 that cost £7000 GBP each. they are not a strength workout, nor a great excuse to not stretch;

they are good for massage however, i suffer from sore calves if i run of skip a lot, and a couple of minutes on this helps no end.

There is research that vibration helps with rehabilitation, however, there's no proof that vibration or this thing will help with strength gains.

"The new exercise machine removes the need to actually work out."

Bingo, do I smell something? That thing is 7000GBP, I think that's around $14,000. I'll tell you what, if you can dish out that much cash on something that "removes the need to actually work out", then go right ahead. I'll take a monthly payment to my gym and some good old-fashioned hard work.

if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

if you're intimidated about the amount of work it will take to achieve a toned body, I personally know many people who have great looking bodies simply through a (reasonably) low body fat percentage (via diet) and generally keeping active (as opposed to logging hours in the gym every week). If this doesn't work for you, it would atleast be a big step on your way to achieving an awesome bod.
