This summer, I lost nearly 11 pounds. (I went from 156 to about 145)...

And now, I am 154. And it's NOT muscle.

I'm so upset with myself right now.

I feel like I try so hard to not eat, but I get urges and I can't fight them. It's so hard to tell myself not to eat when I'm hungry.

And when my stomach is full, I keep eating untill all the food is gone because of the taste.

I'm sorry. I'm just ranting and I'm really upset with myself.

Of course you can fight them. You just at the moment aren't winning.

Can i ask you how available the food is? Whenever I'm cutting I purge my house of all bad food and leave just generally healthy food around that I don't particularly get off on.

Are you writing down your calories? Writing down caloric intake keeps yourself accountable and shows trends. If you train yourself to write everything down it is a lot harder to cheat because then you have to figure out how many calories it was and also it puts the guilt in your face immediately...which often can prevent the next binge.

Exercise is another way to keep accountable...it brings self-esteem that counters a bad day of eating and keeps you from falling off the wagon.

Combine these 3 tools and you will have a lot more success. Obviously the pure willpower method isn't working long-term...so time to change something up.

don't be disappointed or discouraged. never look at health and weight loss as a temporary goal- its a challenge for all of your life. You may have your ups and downs, but you must keep going! Just pick yourself up again, and get your booty to the gym. As for eating urges, thats just psychological. It's like a type of addiction, but its easy to beat. You just have to tell yourself that your health and your happiness mean A LOT more than a few minutes of pleasure for your taste buds. Best of luck, and keep your head up! :patriot:

It is useless to feel upset with yourself, unless it drives you to change. I agree that the mindset needs to change from "temporary diet" to a lifelong change in the way that you eat (and possibly in the way that you view food). In my experience, it is counterproductive to beat yourself up over anything!

Dr. Phil says that it is not willpower that causes some people to succeed with weight loss; it is having A PLAN. I think there is wisdom in that.

Wishing you all the best,

:;shudder at dr phil::
his voice is the stuff nightmares are made of... :D

but - -having a plan is really critical.. planning your meals... planning your workours... til it becomes a habit... is essential to success...

=)

You all made me feel a lot better.

Actually, before I even read this, I woke up at 4 AM and exercised for an hour. Reading all of your replies just made me feel so much better about everything!

So thank you so much, I really appreciate it, and I will definitely take your advice!
