vanity numbers from scale?

Do you trust your home scale? I don't. But I don't have anything else to go by but the cheap digital scale I bought at my local walgreens last night. I have to say that I'm happy with the number I'm seeing but have a sneaking suspicion that its just not being honest with me. I weighed again this morning and the scale had me at a whopping 4 lbs less than I was last night. Maybe that makes sense after a night of fasting and a morning trip to the restroom, but I'm not too sure.

It is consistent though. I kept picking up items to see if it detects the extra weight and it does. But i haven't had much luck with scales at home, as my floor is kind of uneven. Must say though that finally buying a home scale did confirm that no matter what I haven't gained as much weight as I imagined. I was starting to get paranoid about that until I saw the numbers.

Does anybody else have troubles with their scale? or suspect is of having vanity numbers, just like they do to clothing brands now to sell more clothes?

The trick with consistency at home is to make sure you place the scale on the exact same spot each time. Mark it with masking tape if you need to. I know if my scale is half an inch to the right or left and it changes.

You can get consistent true results is you

Weigh only once a week/fortnight
Wear the same thing every time
The scales have to be on hard flooring, not carpet
You weigh on an empty stomach

Anyway, dont worry about the number, focus on how your clothing fits and how you feel.
