Using Protein Shakes to get extra calories

I'm trying to consume around 2000-2500 calories a day. Would it be okay to use protein shakes to get an extra 400 or so calories?

before making use of protein shakes, do you know what your mix or protein, carbs and fat is in your current diet? do you know what your lean body mass is? protein needs also vary with age and type of workout your doing

2 whole eggs. 2 egg whites scrambled spinich/onion added in. approximately 170 cal
1 whole wheat English muffin with natural peanut butter around 150 cal
8 oz of skim milk 80 cal

Lunch
2 peices of whole wheat bread. 40 cal. each so 80 cal
Tuna with Tijon honey mustard/garlic/onion around 80 cal
Some type of salad with dressing low fat ranch I use around 90 cal of that and 1 tbsp of olive oil 200 cal

Dinner
Usually just chicken with some random steamed veggies
I have no idea how much the dinner is in calories but not enough to get me to 2000

Snacks I usually have around 200 calories worth of mixed nuts

Thats usually my every day meals and may switch around some but not a lot. I'm having a hard time getting to 2000-2500 and that's my goal. So I'm trying to figure out easy ways to increase calories since I'm full time student and work after school.

unless you know for sure that you need the protein then it is a waste of time and money buying it, to much protein will be stored as fat just like carbs and fat, just listing your food does not help me work out your nutrient intake and that is something you should do yourself anyway. go to one of the main tracking sites like calorieking or fitday, type in your food so you have a much better idea of what your actually eating. once you actually know what your consuming I can better help work out if you need to increase protein or not.

Hey ! Protein shakes are great, especially in between meals! The problem is a lot of people think they have to consume a TON of protein. Our bodys can only consume around 30g of protein in a 90 minute period, anything above that gets stored to fat. So you wanna make sure you're spreading your protein (chicken, eggs, shakes out!)
