unbarable pain between shoulder blades?

I did some deadlift yesterday and i think thats what did it, between my shoulder blades/pads (not sure what its called, on the back, up by the neck where the arms are "attached") it hurts like hell, and it goes on like under my left shoulder blade. its crazy, i feel it if i just move a bit.
is this just normal soreness? or could it be some kind of weird muscle injury? it doesnt feel like muscle soreness as its completley different from when im sore in my quads for example :S
aslong as i sit still it doesnt hurt. but if i move, like bending and using that muscle.
anyone got any idea what it is? i hope its just some normal thing:p

Sounds like a muscle tear, possibly one of your rotator cuff muscles. In that area, it could also be a pinched nerve due to muscle inflamation or spasm. Did you experience any pain during the exercise, or only the next day? In either case, get some ice and compression on it. Keep the ice on for no more than 10 mins at a time, repeat often.

Whatever you do, don't start training again untill it feels completely better, or you get it checked out. If it is a tear, and you try to stretch it or train it, you will damage it further.

experienced it the day after, no pain while during the exersice. i seem to get these alot.. well, not ALOT but more than others. any reason that could be?
i did try to stretch it this morning, not much, but just to see what happened, and it just got alot worse for like 10 secs when i finished stretching, then went back to the way it was before i did the stretch.
and why would this muscle tear appear? is it because i lifted too heavy? stretched too much? or did the exersice wrong?
if it could come from stretching, should i not stretch my back after my workouts? :S
my friend at school massaged my back and she said there was a bump in the muscle where it hurts, like a knot or something.

a bump could just be severe inflammation, or the location of the tear.

too much weight with improper form, lack of proper warmup and stretching during cool down.

I've never torn a muscle, but I believe you usually feel the muscle tear at the time it occurs, and it's a wicked hurt.

could be rotator cuff, or rhomboid

with your shirt off, do a close grip push up on a wall, have someone standing behind you see if your shoulder blades raise up evenly. If one bulges up higher, it could be blade scapula. It's actually your rear delt (I believe) pulling off of your ribcage muscle.
If thats what it is, it takes a lot LOT LOT of rehab...stim/head, lightweight exercises like rows, raises...then stim/ice.

hope its not that :S if its that, wouldnt i have noticed it earlier? though i have had this before, its always passed pretty quick

Umm, I deadlifted like my max 4 times, and I have the same problem. To the left shoulder blade towards the spine. It hurts so bad, and it gets better , and when i lift again, it gets bad, its not terriable, like i cant live, but it is annoying and it HurtS.

A muscle tear should feel imediately during the workout as a small spasm and some minor discomforting pain in the problem area on the very same day.

I dont think its a muscle tear but your better off geting it checked

also its better not getting massaged in the area, just in case its a muscle tear

karky i deadlifted and have the same type of soreness (not as bad) under my shoulder blades. It seems almost like a lump from all the inflammation. Just stretch it out a few times a day and it should start to feel better like mine : ).

well, i have the problem now... i got it about a week ago. Then I deadlifted again like 4 days later, it got bad, then a little better, yesterday i did shoulders and tris, and it hurts like a d****ing bastard today... :(

i just waited and it passed. im not sure what it is, but i think its some kinf of muscle knot.. some massage helps a bit, but only like right after then it gets bad again. i think what i got it from was stretching while the muscle was cold, like not warmed up. if you work out hard, then later on the day when the muscle is no longer warm and you do some kind of weird movement/stretching you can get it i think.
when i got it i tried some active recovery, and it seemed to help pretty good. but when you got it, dont deadlift or do rows, it will make it worse!:p
