Ok, I need help.
I am seriously trying to eat clean and am avoiding soda, chocolate, candy, etc like the plague. I recently bought some pretzels to help me feel full and such, only to find out they are not good for you. I try gum, whcih helps some of the time. I know lifesavers are candy and should be avoided, but they seem to be the only thing I have that will get me thru at times. HEre's where u come in:
I am EXTREMELY picky about my food. Most of the things u people eat on a regular basis, I find repulsive (i.e. humus, tofu, whey, supplements, yogurt, fish,...need I go on?). What can I, as a junk food junkie, eat that will help me in my goals of losing weight, building muscle and eating clean?
I NEED to do this. I have been eating bananas and apples like they are going out of style, not to mention green beans. PLEASE HELP ME! I'm so frustrated!
.. tricky one.
I'm pretty fussy about what I eat myself. and just because it's organic or whatever.. that doesn't neccessarily mean I'm going to buy it or think it's a good choice.
some of that stuff just isn't nice and irt becomes like a token b.s. subscription.
I spoke to a man a couple of yrs ago on (Fordprefect) who was a football player and hIIT feind and so on as you might be, who was putting together some reasearch notes for a ph.D. in something or other to do with training and nutrition and bf and hee documented a log there of an experiment where he gave up his supplements and instead incorporated a whole bunch of mainly poultry but also just whole foods in general .
.. he still worked out the same but within a month his bf was seriously up, he was feeling comparitively sluggish and he was having difficulty maintaing the results..
I personally don't liike poultry. I don't think it catabolises properly and for the amount of protein and essential animalfibre you get from it, there are muuch better ways to attack a metabolism.
..
like eggwhites and protein shakes for example.
It's reeally quite difficult to find a clean diet that works to your goals and alot of different ppl have differnt ideas of what that looks like.
Ideally my own diet is fat free, salt free, low dry carb and virtually nothing processed whatsoever...
except that to beat those deprivation feelings and cravings and feed them functionally, I usually go for something like a verry occassional 8-10 gm, piece of wholemeal bread, daily few gm serves of rice crackers ( low-sodium flavours with tomatoe and pepper or just a couple on their own or whatevver you want to do with them ) to keep stable and for a sweet or syrup, I go for a carb bar ( for about 6-8 gms per bar .. (where even 1/2 is usually enough to rebalance your palate) mostly made of condensed fruit with all sorts of benifits.. or a condensed fruit stick for maybe 1.5 gms of carbs.
I'm not entirely sure of the mozzarella myself for salt and fat content , but no doubt there are somme versions about that would be less yuk.
Your situation is tricky because if you want to buuild muscle as opposed to just get lean and dense, then that really does require a higher carb intake.
i look at the recommendations you've been given and I feel sick just imaagining living on that stuff!. it feels crusty compaed to what I do.
I recommend you cut the majority of your complex carbs, step up liquid proteins and glycos and add lemon juice and soda water and protein ratioed dry red wine to break it down, a fibre supplement , keep the lettuce, keep the tomatoes ( awwesome value Imo), do a no -fat cheese , have a daily watermelon at the end of your day to activate the fibre supplement and help destabilse your bowel contents and hydrate and through the day suck on a boiled sugar -alternative fruit drop.
I don't reeally have a problem with the beans ( as high in salt as they are ) but if I felt I reeally had to do that, I'd propably only do a few teaspoons and add it to my eggwhites and salad..
I have reports from a collaboration of doctors ands medical phd's myself that say that all that fat most ppl think they need is totally unneccessary, but for ourselves as women, if you incorperate something liike the lightly dark-choc coated fruit bars, then you get to keep a period aswell.
I ate like this working out 12 intense hrs everyday for 6 mth brackets and I can assure you that if you doo this, you'll get extremly lean and extremely strong and dense extreemley quickly. .
say goodbye to the peanut butter though( as if peeanuts are even a good nut for chrissakes.. as opposed to say almonds for the zinc and magnesium ) but you caan have a good phyto-soy mix which for 2.3 gms of carbs per 10 grm serve contain a crushed host of goodies that you can have in hot water ( and equal?? for a chinesse like light super nutrient porrigey mix if you wait a few moments) or sprinkle into or onto other stuff..
just those, multi and an effervescent vit b guarana / c complex should have you lean and satisified and clean and powering in no time.
It's an amazing feeling to know clean.
.. and when you do, you really know the difference.
Good luck with your choices.
