Two-a-day cardio?

I have been exercising regularly for three months now and have adopted healthier eating habits (1900-2000 calories on non-workout days and 2100-2300 on workout days). I weighed 270 pounds when I started and I'm down to 245 now.

Right now I'm doing 30 minutes of sweat pouring cardio 4 or 5 times per week and feel damn good that I've come this far. This summer, however, which is only like 3 months away, I'm considering either doing two 30 minute cardio sessions per day (one morning and one midafternoon) or one cardio and one stregnth training.

My goal is to get lean (as in not fat. haha) then once I'm there, build muscle. I'm wondering if two 30 minute cardio sessions is too much or am I in the right state of mind about this?

Thanks,

If you can handle it, physically AND psychologically, go for it. That's 1 hour / day - not excessive for any fit person. But, if it causes you to feel overworked and overwhelmed, don't do it.

It would be my advice to only do one cardio and an additional strength training session. The strength training with adequate protien intake will prevent muscle loss during weight loss. It is much easier to keep what you have in muscle mass than to rebuild what you have lost.

I have a question. What heart rate zone are you in for this 'sweat pouring' workout? IF you go anaerobic, which will burn more protiens and carbs than fat, strength training is essential.
