hey all,

im dan 26 from pennsylvania. ive been working out and poorly dieting for the past 8 years. i have seen 160lbs as well as 260lbs. the problem is i carry 260lbs pretty well. and thats a problem because im a bigger build from factory. im sitting at 245lbs right now and i can feel it. i recently got married and im disgusted with the pictures. i feel i could have looked better for my beautiful bride. i was just too lazy. im embarased to take my shirt off in front of her in fear that my gut will gross her out. The excercise isnt the problem, its the dieting. Im horrible at planning and executing a diet. i need much help in this part. as far as excercise i do it all. building drag mustangs is my hobby, i also do every big of yard work. including cutting down trees on my lot and moving stumps. gutters, mowing, seeding. im a 1 acre farmer. lol. as well as mountain biking, walking, playing basketball. the big problem is i take in around 7000 cal a day. and i drink beer.... alot. so i need help.
well heres my intro. thanks all
dan

My problem has always been the diet too. I'm really active, but then there's nothing like beer and greasy food after a day of hiking!

I've lost weight before and gained it back due to a stressed life situation. What I found works for me is simply portion control and a little common sense. When I feel like I'll be full in a few more bites, I stop right then. I'm so used to cleaning my plate, that this was a challenge for awhile. Now it's just natural. And the common sense part comes in with snacking. "Do I really need to eat that whole bag of potato chips? Nah, I'll have an apple and will be just as satisfied." That sort of thing.

Another quick calorie reducing tip is to cut out or at least cut down on calorie containing drinks. No more sodas...and no more beer! Just to get you started. Then you can figure out how much beer you can drink and still maintain the rate of weight loss you are comfortable with. For me, unfortunately that means only drinking beer once a month.

By the way, I'm a 1 acre farmer too! I have bees, chickens and a big veggies garden. Hoping to put in some fruit trees this fall to add to the pecans and figs that I already have.

Howdee- your almost in "my neighborhood" (I'm in carroll county Md).
My hubby lost some pounds without even trying when he switched from regular soda (he drinks gallons a day I'm convinced) to Coke Zero- he sez it tastes much better than Diet Coke.
Another small change to make in you "diet" is to avoid fast food when at all possible. Pack a lunch most days, but allow yourself to eat out once- just dont "overdue it" when ya do eat out.

Lots of small changes will add up over time! Good Luck!
