Turbo Jam

I Tried Turbo Jam Today

I bought the Turbo Jam instructional video, warmup and one session.

I find the constant abdominal "tucking" movement along with other movements have caused a little strain on my knees.

Am I doing it wrong or does it actually put a little pressure on the knee joints?

Anyone else using it and what is your experience?

I haven't tried this - and I can't answer the question regarding the knee pain, but I would be leery of any joint pain.

I haven't seen a post from her recently, but this woman used Turbo Jam and looked AMAZING :)

I just started Turbo Jam yesterday. I did the 'learn & burn' in the morning and then the 40 min Cardio last night. I am not feeling any knee pain--I am more sore in my abs and shoulders.

I would question your stance: Are your feet more than shoulder width apart? I find that it is easier on my knees/thighs if they are farther apart. Also, I think it is easier to maintain the 'tuck'.

One think I can say, I think TJ is tons of fun! My MIL has it and has reached a point where she doesn't need the verbal session to keep up--so she goes through the routine with out the talking and has the music turned on high! (I think is it called Session 2?) Anyway, that has always been one of my pet peeves--having to listen to the same 'encouragement' and cringing, knowing that it's coming... I digress.

Don't over do. Make sure you are in the appropriate position and stance. Remember that she says not to lean forward or backwards---keep straight.

Good luck!

I saw that commercial a lot on late night TV. It does look interesting, and is probably a fun type of aerobics that would give you some quickness and balance.

I really think their advertising is misleading though, uses a lot of buzz phrases. Plus it's funny "combines kickboxing, dancing, cardio, sculpting and abs".

From what I saw of the movement, it wouldn't work your abdominals very much. Since it doesn't involve any weight, I assume the best they'd have is some Pilates-ish floor movements for it. Bringing your leg up does work the ab/oblique on that side, but still, not very much compared to what you need for serious growth.

More accurately, a lot of aerobics and lowered body fat would make abs appear, leading to the misconception.

Calling something 'kickboxing' where you don't fight other people, or even hit anything like a pad or whatever, is incredibly misleading. I fear for the lives of anyone relying on something like this or 'Tae Bo' as self defence.

This I agree with.

I don't know if the product is touted as being a self defence work out - but when I was studying martial arts, the people that needed the most help were the women who had been to a 3 hours "self defence" class.

Lots of false confidence :\

Hurting Knees...

I did some Google searching and it seems other people using Turbo Jam has had some knee problems. One person returned the programs saying it really hurt.

Hmm......

I enjoyed the workout and don't want to stop so maybe I"ll switch to the lower impact version (they offer an alternative) and see what happens.

I do not think this is meant to be any type of martial art/self defense video. I think it's for pure fun and the instructor states that in her intro. (great point tho - the fake confidence thing is something i haven't thought about when working out to these videos)

I've been doing Turbojam's cardio and sculpt for about two weeks now. I really enjoyed this workout the best. It's the kind of intensity I'm looking for in a workout program. Unfortunately my knees is terribly effected by this. Yesterday after doing cardioparty and sculpt, my knees were in pain :( After waking up this morning, it's still rather painful. So even though I want to continue doing my routine today, I think I'm going to have to back off until I get better :(

Anyone have any recommendation for workout videos with the same intensity as cardioparty but without being too hard on your knee?

Good luck with your workouts :)

Sorry if this has been done before, I scrolled down but didn't see anything.

I was just wondering if anyone else does Turbo Jam?

I have been doing it on and off for a while, not enough to see results, it was back in the day of no commitment.

I don't yet but a friend from here says that its a pretty good workout. i'm hoping to try it out soon. like within the next few weeks. What do you think of it? do you think its a pretty good workout?

Hey....Who finds that Turbo Jam rocks? It sure does get me motivated and I have never been that motivated. It gives me hope of someday being able to wear a bikini in public. I can't wait until that day happens. :cheers2:

Turbo Jam?

I was watchin tv as they have NOTHING but paid programming on during the day on sundays. And an infomercial for "Turbo Jam" came on. I have never seen this in my life. But the workouts look soooo fun. As there like a dancing workout. To me it seems it would work. But im am very skeptical of infomercials. Especially when it comes to weightloss and dieting. Has anyone ever tried this? If so how was it and did it work? Thanks Kate

From what I saw, it does look fun and motivating with good music, if you're motivated to do aerobics for general health and it helps you with diet and stuff and possibly other training then that is excellent.

I just ordered some Turbo Jam dvds from Amazon. I am a little anxious about my lack of coordination, but since I am in the privacy of my own home, I figured I have nothing to lose except a couple of pounds ... heh.

I love Turbo Jam - it really is a lot of fun! They are not very long so you get a great workout and Chalene is so cute. She really tells you what she is thinking and tries to motivate you. There are people that are on her team that have lost a ton of weight and you see them working out the same way they always have. I really like it a lot and would recommend it to anyone. There is also bonus stuff at the end that gives you an insite into why she does what she does. Also the weighted gloves are really nice, they give you that extra push.

Good Luck!

Hi There :)

I also do Turbo Jam Cardio Party, and i must say it helped me,I lost 7 inches in 15 days and that also without making any changes in dietary habits. Its just great, but follow the instructions carefully so you don't swap your knee joint,Chalene always says that,i never had any problem with it as i followed it correctly:).

Don't give up until you succeed:cheers2:

I Just Started Working out with Turbo Jam 6 days ago!

So far I haven't checked my weight out just yet, but I measured myself after 5 workouts I have lost a total of 6 Inches.
Not bad! I love it! I'm tracking my progress with Pictures.

I wish everyone the best!

If you want to have fun, I advise you to get it. It's my fav! On the days when I don't feel like working out, I can always put it in and feel energised. Unlike in some other vids, the people genuinely look like they're enjoying themselves. They all have different personalities and the music is great. At first it was a little hard to keep up but by the second or third time I was fine. I'm not a dancer. You won't be doing any Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, etc choreography so don't worry. You only do a few moves over and over again one side and then on the other but you're encouraged to have fun at the same time. There's even sections when you can do your dance and just enjoy yourself.

I'm trying to think of negative points but I actually can't. Doing TJ I lost 1lb each week for 3months straight, but before I'd been losing around 1lb every 2-3 weeks. I highly recommend it. If you don't like it, resell it or send it back.
