Tuna Burgers! They Are The BEST!

Try this one time. It is NOT gross. I have fed this to all my freinds and family who are not healthy people and are used to the strong flavor of junk. I have never found anyone that did not like this meal

you need

1 can of tuna in water (do not drain it- use it all)
1-2 eggs
Dash of wheat flour
bread and all the stuff you stick in a burger
optional: tofu
optional: lettuce tomato onion pickles spices

Mix all ingredients in ungreased frying pan on medium until eggs are cooked and everything in the pan is one consistent paste
Tofu will not make it taste any better but it is an opertunity to use the stuff.
Wheat flour can be substituted with pancake batter which was the original recipe when I found this in a magazine but I very strongly reccommend wheat flour. Total cooking time: 5 minutes. Wash pan quickly or it may be harder to clean later in the day

Add non fat mayo, ketchup and mustard to whole grain bread and remember 1 can of tuna makes two whopping burgers!

Yes, you can tell the difference between these and real burgers but they taste fantastic and they really satisfy with no fat (other than EFAs) low sugar, complex carbs and a monster load of high quality protein!

Is there any spices you recommend and should you only put egg whites in it?
Also do you think that this would be a good meal like all the carbs and protein that you would be there :)

This is a complete meal with carbs and protein.
I like greek seasoning salt (tiny yellow bottle with a red drawing of a chef)
I like red pepper and mrs. dash but even with no spices it tastes fine.

Cut the yolks out if that is what you do. Right now I am trying to gain so I leave them in. One day I will be trying to lose and I will take them out again. It tastes fine either way.

Has anyone tried these yet. I know most people hear the recipie and think it sounds gross. I know that all the ingredients are in all your homes anyways. Can one of you back me up and say how great these are??

This is a great recipe because I have tried something similar before. Lettuce and tomato is a must though and not optional.

I would love to try this, but I have several questions.

- How many of oz of tuna should I combine with the eggs?
- Do you make all the ingredients into little patties or what?

-one small can of tuna makes two sandwhiches
-when the eggs are cooked the whole mix becomes a thick paste which is easily cut into patties

Hey there mr Ninjaface, I was inspired by your post and followed your recipe. I like my food a little spicy so I added tabasco, added minced onions while cooking. WOW! I must say it surprised me. I will be making this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Use quality bread- Whole grain whenever possible. here is the hierarchy of good bread

1: Whole Grain
2: Multi Grain
3: Whole wheat
4: Dirt pressed into a bread shape
5: White Bread-Sourdough and all bleached bread and false wheat (flavored white bread)

A few things you may want to add would be

Shredded cheddar cheese (Low fat if you want)

Grated carrots (drained of their juice) and

Tony Chacherez's creole seasoning (tastes good on everything but I'm not sure I spelled it correctly!)

I mix all of the above into my tuna patties. The carrots taste great with tuna, and warm with cheese melted throughout is just really yummy... it's a favorite around here.

I also use whole wheat bread pressed into muffin cups (to take on the shape),filled with tuna salad (mayo and the works) and topped with cheese and baked. You could low-fat-ize that if you wanted with low fat mayo and cheese, though I've never tried it to see if it works out as well as regular all-fat stuff.

These sound delicious, Ill talk to my roommate tonight and see if he is interested in eating these with me :) Ill post my thoughts on em if I make em.
