Hello,
I am new to this online chat thing so please forgive me if I don't know right away what I am doing.

I decided yesterday that I needed a lifestyle change. So I search for a place that I could chat and get support from others and came accross this site. I am very glad I did! In reading some of the postings I feel this is the right place for me.

I have started this process many times and have had good results but always give up before the finish line. I am 5'6 and weigh 180 I would love to lose 25 to 30:newbie:lbs. I can say I want to be a size 10 again (the smallest I ever have been) but I don't know if that is possible. I guess I need to stay possitve but I am a realist.

My problem has alot to do with I want to be like my friends and eat all the things that they eat. I hate being the one to say well I can't have that I will just bring something I can eat. It is not that they don't support me but they make it hard to do the right thing. It all boils down to temptation I guess.

I also have not been in a real weight loss program. I have a few books and have read about different plans. I have pretty much combined all that I have read and tried to exercise more. I would love to hear what others do or what guidelines are used.

I also know that exercise is the key. I enjoy walking but I live in Maine and it is snowing her right now. So it is hard to exercise outside in the winter. I am in the process of getting a membership to a gym. I am hoping that with the right suppport system I will be able to win this battle.

I am still young @ 35 I have many years ahead of me I should atleast make them healthy ones. :newbie:

Hey I am right over the border in NH ...
alot of the fad diets don't work ...

the books give some good advice, but read the sticky threads in the newcomers section and other spots on the forum and boards and you will get the best advice ..
best wishes

welcome to the board, i hope you find support here. i know what you mean about exercising outside. its just tooooo cold for that. i've found a lot of ways to exercise indoors though, just do a little research. you will find a lot of information here that can help. good luck!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Thank you so much for the support. I was very excited to get home to see if I had a reply. And I DID!!! I went for a walk after work today (it was snowing) but I decided that I was going to do it. And I am so glad that I did! Sucess sometimes means getting out of your comfort zone.
I think I biggest success today other than a chilly walk was only having one cookie that a coworker had. I have decided that I should not go without a taste of things I like. I really do not eat all that bad. I fix meals that include meat and veggies. My problem is serving sizes. I have no problem eatting a whole pan of veggies by my self. So I try to eat more of them and leave some meat out. I TRY. But I will pick at the meat until it is gone. I need to get that in check.
If anyone has any ideas on that subject I would love to hear it. Thank you all so much for the support. Tina

welcome and thanks for coming to my newbie thread! :) i cant believe it was snowing when you walked home it hardly ever snows here in england! even though we had a lot of hail stones and light scatterings of snow a month ago!
