so I'm 5'7 and i weigh 168. I would like to lose about 20-25 pounds in 3 months. I am two weeks in and i have yet to lose anything. I do three miles a day on the treadmill 7 days a week and cut my calories to 1700. It very frustrating. How long should it take before i can really start seeing a difference? I had to tell my husband to hide the scale because it just got too depressing.

? am the same ? need to lose some weight in three months. ? started at 209 lbs now ? am 205 lbs.do you dr?nk water enough. because ?t ?s very ?mportant. I dr?nk 2.5-3 lt water a day.I wanted to rem?nd ?t. and welcome to the forum :)

thank you. besides for my coffee in the morning all i drink all day is water i drink anywhere from probably 5-8 16oz bottles a day.

AAre you eating 5-6 times a day? I drink half my body weight in water. I keep my carbs below 100g per day and ideally between 80-85. That keeps your body in a very mild state of fat burn (ketosis) mode.

Are you watching portion sizes. I use 9" plates and half the plate should be veggies, 1/4 protein, the other 1/4 starches.

Also sometimes exercising too much can make your body go into starvation mode. It thinks you're losing too many calories and hold onto the fat stores.

I'll start by saying great work! You are taking action which is rare! For your size I'd say you need to eat a little more, and eat more often, 1700 calories might not be enough for 3 miles per day. As was stated, drink about 100 ounces of water daily, and get around 8 hours of sleep.

Have you done any resistance training at all? I do both resistance + high intensity cardio to burn fat, it's quality over quantity. 30 Minutes per day is all you need, as long as you give it a good effort.

I definitely do not eat 5-6 times a day. My routine is, I get up around 7 and have my coffee. Then i get on the treadmill, then i will eat something either breakfast or lunch (I'm not a big breakfast fan so if its late enough i will just eat lunch instead) then when i get hungry about 3 hours later i will eat again and then at dinner which is about 6. Some days its harder then others but i try my best to not eat anything else after dinner maybe 1 or 2 days a week i will eat a little something depending on how big my dinner was and if I'm really hungry. I will say though I haven't weighed myself yet (I'm waiting till Tuesday which will be 3 weeks in) i can see a slight difference mostly in my stomach. I keep hearing people say to take your measurements instead of just weighing yourself because you will be building muscle so i did that last week. I feel like if i keep doing what I'm doing that it is impossible for me to not reach my goal. I feel like the treadmill is my outlet like as long as i keep doing that, then its ok if i have a slip up here and there. It can just get discouraging when you don't see results. I just keep telling myself that at the 4 week mark i WILL notice a difference.

AYou should eat breakfast 30 minutes or so after you wake up. This jump starts your metabolism.

By eating 5-6 low fat smaller meals every 2-3 hours it keeps your metabolism revved up. When you go long periods of time and eat bigger meals, because your really hungry, your body says, "I better hold onto the fat because I'm not sure when I'll eat again."

Also by eating breakfast sooner and eating more meals throughout the day, you won't be as hungry at dinner time and will eat fewer calories in one sitting.

AOh also most people believe that you can out train poor eating habits. IMO that just isn't true. I believe weight loss is more effective focusing on nutrition with exercise being an important healthy habit.
