Ok well. My name's Ej, aaaand I absolutely NEED to start losing weight. Though it doesn't really get in the way of everyday life, my weight is just very unhealthy for someone my age. I'm turning 19 next month, and I weigh about 330 lbs :( sad thing about that is that I've actually LOST some weight since i got back from college by accident lol. I used to be about 333 and now I'm around 325. I just really want to lose weight to be more healthy, as well as my doctors saying it could also help fight my depression.
:)
My biggest problem is actually nutrition. I don't mind getting up, and going out and exercising. I just eat VERY terribly! I never drink water, and i used to just eat Wendy's 2 or 3 times a day...awful. BUT NOW, i am trying to begin anew lol. I need a lot of help with nutrition, so if people could just give me some advice in that area it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi, Ej! Welcome to the forum! You can get some nutrition information and some help by reading the stickies. Please feel free to check out the diary section, if you start a journal there that can help keep you motivated.

Feel free to ask any questions. I'm kind of in the same boat. Though I started out at a higher weight.

Hey Ej, you definitely can do it! I started out at 305 and I'm now almost under the 190's with about 40 more to go. One of the most important things to do for yourself is to love yourself regardless of any flaws you may see in yourself. I lost weight once, but I still couldn't accept myself, or my body. I wound up gaining almost half of what I lost at one point, now that I'm starting over, and a little wiser, I've realized losing weight this time round is less stressful and more exciting because I've actually learned to just love myself for who I am, and what I do.

Dance dance revolution really helped me get started as far as exercise goes, the game is fun so you don't realize you're working out, or in my case, that i've been playing for 2 hours straight!

As far as food goes, you should figure out what your resting bmr is (well its more of an estimation, just google bmr calculator). Once you know that you can figure out how many calories you should eat a day in order to lose a reasonable amount of weight per week. Most doctors recommend 2-3 pounds a week. At first it may drop of faster though.

I usually aim for about a 1000 calorie deficit a day through exercise and less food. I'll lose 1-2 pounds a week following that plan. I'm no doctor but basically you just need to burn more calories then you consume to lose weight. Good luck and if you have any questions theres a lot of people around to give advice (although not expert medical advice, more so advice from personal experience).
