Truestar... Good plan? Advice would be great!

I've jumped wholeheartedly into a Basic Wellness program with Truestar Fitness. I'm committed to it for a year, and my weightloss goal is 69lbs.

The program works like this: The program is about total wellness and health rather than weightloss. They do have a weightloss program, but they don't push it. Rather than choose diet or exercise, the focus is on 5 key areas of your life: Nutrition, Exercise, Vitamins, Attitude and Sleep.

Because my attitude and sleep were fine, I'm focusing on nutrition and exercise for my own personal weightloss. The vitamins are provided by Truestar (at a nominal fee) and include multivitamins, calcium, grapeseed oil, fish oil, and Vitamin E.

Truestar has a circuit that works every muscle group for up to 1 minute with 1 minute of cardio between stations. In addition, it's recommended that I do cardio for 15-25 minutes on my workout days, which at present are Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.

Nutritionally, I'm eating 1200-1500 calories a day. I eat 4 meals and they're balanced this way: 40% protein, 30% carbohydrates, 30% fat. The diet is a metabolic booster, and I'll stay here for 4-6 weeks, then switch to continuum (30% protein, 40% carbs).

I've been on the plan 5 days, and I've lost 5lbs.

Is this like any other diet that people have had success with? Does anyone have any additional advice for me?

I'm 2lbs lighter since I weighed myself on Monday.

I'm not sure if this is just a Canadian program or what, but it's just for women and I highly recommend it!

It's a lot of work, but they give you all the tools you need to succeed.

If that's not good advertising, I don't know what is!

What programs are other people on, and what kind of success have they had with them?
 
I'm not really on a program, although I did join Weight Watchers online (mainly for the tools!). I'm no expert, but this plan you are following sounds pretty good to me, because it focuses on total health, rather than a quick fix.
 
The program is set up really cool. They are kind of shady in the pushing of buying their supplements but, you would end up buying most of them anyways. Losing weight is pure calorie deficits. 3500 calories is 1 pound. So if you deficit 500 calories from your average daily caloric intake every day for a week, you technically end up losing 1 pound a week. Healthy weight loss sits at 1-1.5 pounds lost a week. As long as you're determined and stick with it, programs will work, its just their own method! Keep up the good work. -Brian, Personal Trainer
