Tried the Master Cleanse...

Hi All,

Pretty new here but just wanted to say I'm on a mission to find what works for me. I tried the Master Cleanse which seemed pretty popular from my findings. I only made it 8 full days (you're supposed to be on it for 10) but it's really brutal. Although I didn't fulfill the 10 days, I thought I would see some type of difference by day 8, but alas no.

I have been doing the cardio with weight training (muscle confusion I believe they call it) and HAVE seen a difference. It boosts my mood and gives me more energy also so I will continue to do this as this is a proven way to tone up a bit and loose some inches.

I also have a couple of friends who have been on this 9 day cleanse they call it. I believe they are both on day 8 and she's lost 7 lbs, he's lost 13lbs. I am less wary of trying something that people I know and trust have tried so I am going to try this and see what happens. She says it has a 30 day money back guarantee and that is another thing I REALLY look for when I'm shopping around. I feel I have a lot less to lose (besides some weight) if they have a no questions asked guarantee. I will keep everyone updated on how this goes for me. Wish me luck and I wish everyone else the best of luck on their weight management journeys!!! :driving:

It's funny that you posted this today because I was having something of a minor breakdown earlier and began searching for ways to just shed as much weight as possible, no matter what. I found the Master Cleanse but didn't think it sounded good so I passed. A little digging turned up:

And honestly, without that information, I don't know if an all liquid diet is a good idea, anyways. I mean, we have teeth...we're meant to eat solid food...and there are healthier ways of losing weight. My doctor told me that going on a "diet", in general, is bad and that the word "diet" is negative. You should, instead, seek to make lifestyle changes, changes to your habits and diet that are permanent, not temporary or something you punish yourself over breaking.

But I don't mean to nag or be negative, just wanted to respond. =)

No problem, I appreciate the feedback. I should have been more specific (my fault).
This system my friend was telling me about is a cleanse that includes regular food, vitamins, minerals etc and after the 9 days you do what's called cleanse days ever so often to help maintain so it is an ongoing diet routine. That's why I liked the sound of it. It sounded like it made more sense as an incorporation of vitamins, minerals, low cal snacks etc into a healthy diet instead of this crash thing you do that depletes your body of everything (Master Cleanse) then expecting to go back to whatever you were doing beforehand and expecting to feel healthy AND not gain the weight back. :) To me it's worth a try. It can't be any worse than the MC :) :)

No problem, maybe I misunderstood!

So you basically eat regular food and vitamins and then you cleanse as in only take in liquids for a day or so? Sorry if I'm being slow here. >.< I did something like this with Isagenix a few years back and it was rough but I somehow shed 10 pounds in one week...where those 10 pounds went, I don't know! My clothes fit the same but the number on the scale was smaller (same scale even). =/

I wish you luck! =)

Yes, yes! In fact I think Isagenix is what she called it! Hmmm, you lost 10 lbs but your clothes fit the same??? Did you notice any kind of difference besides what the scale was telling you? I'm excited to go on it, but I WANT my clothes to fit differently...actually I want my clothes to fit! HAHAHAHA!

Nope, no change at all. I had another account here at one time that I've since lost (can't even recall the email I used for it or the name) and I remember posting at the time to ask how that was possible because the scale was reading that I was down 10 pounds on the nose but I was wearing the same clothes and they fit the same. =/

I don't know if I'd recommend Isagenix just because of how hard it can be and how it's, really, a pain in the butt. Like taking all these vitamins and drinking shakes all the time and then the cleanse days, if they happen to fall on a family outing of any kind, are hell. I'll never forget the day I spent out with my family cleansing...we went out to eat and then to a park and they sat there eating hot food and I was drinking this crappy vitamin water that tasted soooooo bad. I pulled through it but I don't think it was a "fulfilling" sort of experience. I guess it showed me that I could persevere but it just wasn't enjoyable.

Now, the people who got me onto it lost weight and dropped a few sizes but I think they've put some back on, too. I was already down at 140 (I'm 5'3.5") and it took me to 130 so I don't know if that means anything or not. But considering my experiences with working out versus using Isagenix...I'd say working out was better. I dropped from 160 to 140 by going to Curves and eating healthy and then Isagenix took me the last 10 but I think I enjoyed it less than the several months of working out. xD

Not to discourage you or anything though, just telling you my experience with it, assuming it's the same thing. =) I just don't think it really teaches you how to cope with eating on a day to day basis you know? I mean, how many people do this on a regular basis? It's like a bandaid, like you drop the weight but then what? Do you want to do it the rest of your life? And if not, do you know how to keep the weight off once you stop Isagenix and go back to eating regularly without the cleanse days? You didn't really change your eating habits in a "normal" way so do you know how to do it now and can you stick with it? And better yet, what are you really paying for vitamin wise? I never stopped to ask what all that money was getting me now that I think about it. >.<

Ah, thanks for the info. Darn, I'll have to think about this a little more before I jump in I guess. I'm sorry you had to go through all that only to have your clothes fit the same, that was probably disappointing. Well, if I come across anything else that sounds promising I'll let you know. :) Yes, at least we both know that working out makes a difference. I guess the "old fashioned" way is always a good way to go.

Well, that might just have been me, I mean the people who started me on it dropped weight and changed sizes but they were considerably larger before they started, too. Maybe I was just hitting like my limit? 130 seems to be like my lowest possible point, 140 where I settle more often than not.

But past that, whether your clothes fit differently or not, when I think back on how much thought I ended up having to put into it, it seems a little silly. Like did I take my vitamins? Did I drink my shake? When is my next cleanse day? Are my bottles of water, with and without vitamins, ready for when I need them? Uh oh, gotta go somewhere, need to tote my vitamin water so I don't get behind. Ugh, drinking that much water in one day with that vitamin stuff in it is enough to make you wanna gag. >.<

But again, just what I remember, they stuck with it but looking back, I think I had more success and was happier with working out. But I know how hard it is to get going on that and I've often thought about Isagenix but I think as soon as I hit my first cleanse day, I'd like yeah I quit. xD

I'm closing this thread, since the whole idea of making it was to spam.

Knowledgeispowe(r), if you want to pretend that you forgot what that program was called that 'your friend' told you about, maybe you should remove the link to the spam website of exactly that program from your profile. It's more convincing that way.

By the way, consider this a warning for spamming.
