Tredmil or exercise bike?

Hey, as far as cardio goes what would u reckomend, and tredmil or a exercise bike?

I do go jogging but what about those night or mornings that i really dont wanan go outside.

I dont have that much money so i was thinking more along the lines of a bike, but yeah, any opinions?

As per my knowledge, bike works out well on your lower body, where as your upper body can swing on treadmill, you can actually batter your workout on treadmill carrying dumbels in your hands.

I also read couple of reviews in journals, that treadmill jogging has side effects like, back injuries, Knee injuries. iam not really sure how far its true. If anyone have any Idea on this please kindly let me know.

You have to evaluate your budget. How much money do you wanna spend on a home piece? If yuo are looking for something that is a mix of running, jogging, hiking--then I would go with the Treadclimber. It is a treadmill with independent bi-planar walking belts. It works as a stepper AND a treadmill! It burns alot of calories and I have gotten to try it ata afitness expo. It was killer. It runs for about $800.
And no...I don't work for the company..not advertising..just trying to help.

Tim:

Studies show that treadmills burn more calories than any other home fitness equipment (although recent studies now show that elliptical trainers are equally effective). The only downside to treadmills is that they can be very expensive (for the good ones) and they can cause stress on the joints, whereas elliptical trainers are virtually "stress-free." If you can't afford a new, quality treadmill, look for used equipment. You can get unbelievable deals on used equipment these days.

As for exercise bikes, I'm not a big fan of them. They do have a place in any workout routine, but they just don't burn calories as well as treadmills or elliptical trainers.

When running on a treadmil the strike force impact on your knees is 5 times you bodyweight. Thats why I like the bike.

wow 5 times !!! now i know why it hurts !!! hehe i recon you will get a better workout on the tredmil...i find it even harder to run on the tredmil than outside hehe

treadclimber - BIG load of crap if you ask me...there are treadmills that easily tilt farther than that, and you can run on them...and you don't have to walk with your feet a certain distance apart. There is nothing advantageous I see about a treadclimber.
And yes, treadmills are bad for your joints, thats a lot of impact on a really unforgiving surface. If it was padded, the belt would stick everytime you land, so there is no give. It's ok for sometimes, but, like someone else said, mix it in with some bike, some stepping, and definitly throw the eliptical in there, no impact there, and you can get your arms going too

For a great workout at a reasonable price, take a look at the Schwinn Airdyne bike. I'm not a big fan of bikes ( I love my life fitness elliptical), but for a change of pace I burn 700-1000 calories an hour on the AirDyne. Great for hiit.
