Sorry if this is in the wrong section..

Anyhow, i'm looking into buying a treadmill, as i really want to up my cardio, i have been powerwalking, jogging, and running a few times over the last few weeks, but due to either the fantastic british summer (heavy rain!) or just running late from work, ive not been out as much as id like this week, so i figured it makes sence for me to get one i can use every night after work.

Now my question is, whats the best sort to get? I've never actually used a treadmill before, and im not sure if the magnetic ones will be up to the job, or should i save and buy an electric motor driven one?

The magnetic one i was looking at is..

Cheers for any advice

check the world fitness training forum under fitness equipment. there is a treadmill buying guide there. Sorry i cant post the link i am too new here :)

i bought one of those magnetic ones after using motor driven ones at the gym , i didn't like it at all and sent it back , i felt like i wasn't running natrually , my advice -stick to the motor ones

I prefer the electric motor ones myself. And I also had to make sure mine was portable enough to be able to put it away when I wasn't using it.

Search around and see if you can see a model in a showroom somewhere.

I recently got an expensive treadmill. I went to my nearest branch of John Lewis and they have a department that sells that kind of thing. It meant that I could have a play with it and see exactly what the functionality was and how easy or difficult it was to move.

I was able to select a make and model that was right for me. I then got that same model through a company in Nottingham that sells reconditioned treadmills that I found over the internet. They were happy to deliver here (near Heathrow). When it arrived - they hadnt had a second hand one in stock so they sent me a brand new one. I got a real bargain.

Thanks for the replies, I think i'll go with an electric, epsecially if i can find a cheap reconditioned.
I'll have to have a search about for them, i'm just up the road from Notts :)
