Training in the cold

What are the affects of training in the cold?

The primary reason I'm asking, is because I do my workouts in the morning, and it's going winter here down under, and in the morning it gets colder than -10Celcius (14Fahrenheit), and I need to do chinups, pullups (not all at once), and hanging leg raises. Outside. All I wear is shorts, no shirt or anything - because I get very hot working out.

Now I think it's really good, it feels very nice, and I do believe it's good for the immune system as well.

Though I'd like to know for sure.

Is it good, is it neutral (not good nor bad, just no effect) or is it a bad idea, and if so - why?

On the same subject, what if you do cardio for a long time (say 1-2 hours), and it's rather cold outside, and you're not wearing proportionally warm cloths?
Because you know, if you put the effort into it, you'll get really hot, and sweat and it feels really uncomfortable, etc.
So maybe wear something like a sweatshirt on a winter's day while jogging / biking. How would that go down with the body?

And yes, I know it's best to bulk in winter, cut in summer, I just want to generally know.

Thanks!

I did a research paper on this back in the day. The biggest effect is boosting the immune system. People who are members of the Polar Bear Club (they cut holes in the ice in the winter and take a swim) have better resistance to getting common illnesses. They have shown some of the same results in rats.

I remember that big Russian Olympic Wrestler, (I forget his name but he won the gold 2 or 3 Olympics in a row then was defeated by the American) trained in Siberia, and was known for conditioning in waist deep snow for hours.

Skiers and X-Games guys train in the cold all the time as well. It is perfectly safe.

Do whatever you are comfortable with. You know if you are freezing, or just right.

Have fun with it. :D
