I'm a 32 year old female who has had a minor heart condition for years that has become more exasperated in the last 3
(it's a type of SVT). This has resulted in many aspects of my life becoming more restrictive, including exercising.
I am waiting on a second cardio ablation which will hopefully sort me out, or get a pacemaker fitted (currently controlled with beta blockers). However as I am a fitness junkie I am finding it extremely frustrating and depressing not being able to exercise to my previous capacity. I do have a sports degree but am a bit rusty so if anybody could give any advice or tips on good exercise programmes for people with cardiac issues I'd be very grateful.
My cardiologoist has confidence in my knowledge due to my degree etc but I am used to running/swimming and pushing myself to the full as used to compete so am at a loss how to slow down a bit without it being so frustrating or looking so unfit because I can barely break into a run anymore without my heart rate going through the roof!
I'm also needing to begin a progressive training programme as I am doing an Everest Base Camp trek in April 2008 (providing my operation is successful).[
