Trading slimming pill for Metformin

Over the past 2 months I have been taking Reductil. The first month I sat on my butt and did nothing but still lost 2kg (roughly 4 pounds). This month I haven't weighed myself but I have been back at the gym 3 - 4 times per week for around 45mins.

I want to stop taking the pill because:
1. I want to be able to credit weight loss to my own hard work and heart.
2. Yeah it stops me from being hungry and makes me feel full faster but it doesn't stop the fact that I can eat a whole bag of candy or a block of chocolate without feeling full. (emotional eating not so good yeah)
3. It costs heaps =x

I shall start taking Metformin instead. I used to take Metformin but after a very embarrassing experience after eating some spicy food I stopped. Now I know what to avoid I guess ;)

I am just looking for some advice on stopping the Reductil and peoples experiences with Metformin - Specifically ladies with PCOS.

you got the reasons to motivate your self. just try to think of it when ever you feel lazy. find a gym partner friend or family. so you wont get bored. good luck!

I have PCOS and I'm insulin resistant, but I don't take metformin.

My weight loss has been slow -- you're not going to find me losing 4 lbs in one week, or hell, even 2 pounds in one week -- but the way I've been handling this is the way that anyone with insulin resistance has to take it: managing the carbohydrate intake plus exercise.

It's the only way.

Instead of looking for the pills to help you, if you're really interested in doing this because of your hard work and sweat, then I suggest you start keeping track of your food intake and start analyzing if that's the best type of eating for PCOS.

There's a lot of information -- here and at other PCOS sites -- that can help you figure that out. But, I hate to say it, there is no way you can keep eating bags of candy with PCOS.

You may want to take some time to figure out the emotional eating (why and how to stop it) and work to figure out how you can still satisfy your sweet tooth without using the bag of candy to do it.

And trust me, you WANT to figure it out -- PCOS has a lot of symptoms and you may not feel a lot of them now because you're on the younger side. It can get worse if you don't keep it in check.

Sounds like im doing everything ok so far then :D.

I keep a food diary which has made me see I don't eat a lot because of the reductil so I am wanting to stop the pill and be able to manage food and emotional sides of things.
I do have a gym buddy, she hasn't been going with me for the past few weeks but that's all good.
I don't eat bags of candy(anymore) I used to but since going to the gym I just haven't felt cravings or a need to stuff my face with processed sugar. It is now more fruits I got the love for and about an hour after the gym, meat!!.
I know from experience that going over my sugar threshold causes me to have worse pains down there - Which is a really weird reaction I think.

The reductil was never a miracle pill, just an aid but since going to the gym I don't have emotional eating. Now when I get upset I just want to exercise.

The last time I was on Metformin I was making better eating choices and gyming but no weight was coming off so my doctor advised metformin as a helper. Took that and could lose 0.5kg per week. That's like 1 pound I think. Any loss is good.

My mother has PCOS so I can see where my symptoms are headed. My housemate has PCOS and in her I can see what symptoms I do not want - ever! I believe I have it light as I only get pains in my girl parts, acne(way less since gym) and obviously being a fatty. I am all about prevention of things getting worse.
