Towards a leaner body

Hi everyone :) I'll try to introduce myself and to keep track of my weightloss journey over here. I don't need to loose a lot. Maybe 3-4 kg and that will be enough for me. However I struggle a lot with changing my eating habbits. The biggest problems that I have are:
1. Eating a lot of sweets.
2. Drinking energy drinks and coke.
3. Drinking sweet milky coffee too often.
4. Not eating enough of vegetables.
5. Eating snacks too ofen at work.

As it's not healthy, I'll try to change my eating habbits little by little and I hope that tracking the process will help be to be more cautious about what I eat. I probably won't write my food diary daily, but maybe I'll write short summaries of how succesfull was the day.

I think I'm doing quite ok with sports. I cycle to work and back every day, wich is 45 min. of cycling to one side. I'll try to do my old workout regime at home twice a week using dumbbells. Also, I'll try doing 15-20 min. belly exercise daily or almost daily, cause I started going to belly dance classes and I'd like to have a nicer belly :)

My height is 177 cm, which is 5'9 feet, the weight is something around 71 kg (157 lbs). I'll weigh myself tomorrow.

Ok, let's get started :)

Found some good tips for the weightloss:
* Cravings don’t last – Another prime weight loss tip is next time you have got to urge to snack or eat some food, grab your mobile phone or get on Facebook. Chat with an exponent for a short time, it’s been verified that cravings last for around five minutes. thus whereas you gossip or bring up what has been happening nowadays together with your friends, your cravings can have possibly gone away.
* Keeping a food journal — writing down everything you eat — can also help you stay on track. “Even if you write it down on a napkin and end up throwing it away, the act of writing it down is about being accountable to yourself and is a very effective tool for weight loss,” says Bonnie Taub Dix, MA, RD, author of Read It Before You Eat It .

Hello Judita and welcome to the forum! I really like your goal: being leaner and healthier instead of just being thin. Distracting yourself when cravings come up is definitely important as telling yourself "no" all the time really wears you down after a while. Good luck on your journey, I look forward to reading along.

Hi Judita & welcome to the forum. It sounds like just changing your eating habits to healthier choices will be the best for you as you do not need to lose much at all. Being fit & healthy is a really good aim. I distract myself in the forum when I am trying to delay my eating.

LaMaria, thanks, I hope I'll have enough of will power and eager to change my eating habits. I'm not new to dieting and counting calories, thus I know that it only works in a short term. The best is to change the eating habits and eat healthier. Well, I'll have to live in my body for quite a while. I'm still young, almost 28, but it's not too long to live until the consequences of my unhealthy habits will catch up. Thus, I guess, it's time to start changing :)

Cate, I do read this and other weight-loss forums more often now, that really helps to keep myself motivated.

Today, I think, I've done pretty well with my meals. Had no energy drinks nor coke, also made it without the sweet rolls or croissants. However, I still struggle with vegetables and protein. As I do cycle every day and work out once in a while, I think I should be eating more protein. Have no idea what to have for breakfast tomorrow so there would be the right amount of protein. Eggs aren't my favourite.

Re:breakfast-I recently made some protein balls & they were nice. I just used some of my own nut butter, rather than protein powder. They were sugar free & only had a little honey. I love nut butter on oat toast for breakfast, or some hommous & fish(sardines or tuna) on oat toast. I'm so glad I love eggs! Making your own protein balls or protein bars might be a good idea perhaps. Next time I make some I'm going to keep track of how many calories are in them.
Well done on a day without sugary drinks etc judita.Cycling every day must have you fairly fit.
