Hi to anyone who reads this, today (11/04/2015) is the start of my fitness/weight loss journey. I'm going to be logging my weight-loss and stats here regularly

I am going to be tracking my calorie consumption through "My Fitnesspal", I am aiming to drink 2litres of water a day and instead of drinking normal tea I'm going to try and completely cut it out and swap to green tea - this may take a few weeks to make the transition 100% but I'm definitely going to cut back.

Exercise wise I am going to start the couch to 5k run and the 30 Day Shred - once I've completed the 30 Day Shred I'm going to start Insanity

*Stats*
Lowest Weight - 132 pounds

Highest Weight - 169.5 pounds

Goal Weight - 120 pounds

Height - 5'8

Hey Tory!

Yeah, I agree, let's motivate each other ;)

The couch to 5k, is that the zombies, run! program? :D And wow, you burned 587 in your first run, that's pretty amazing! You must be fast, it takes me ages to burn that many kcal when running…

I know the problem with trying to drink enough water, you just never get around to it, do you? Why do you want to cut down on normal tea consumed and change it all the way over to green tea? Btw, don't forget that green tea doesn't give you any liquid (can't think of the proper english word right now) so you have to make sure to drink as much water as you drink tea to even out the loss!
I am trying to pull up a small group on this forum (everyone seems really nice) where we set small challenges every week and give our best to fulfil them to get some great new habits. I had that on Noom back when they had forums and it worked really well. The challenge for next week? Drinking 2l of water every day ;) Haha, maybe you should join me! :D

Excuse my ramblings :p
keep up the good work over the next week!!

Hey :)

I wish I burned that many calories in my first run! I did a few exercise videos throughout the day to see which ones I liked, so that's why I put 587... maybe I didn't portray it well enough in my original post, my apologies.

I'm swapping tea because, 1) normal tea uses milk whereas green tea doesn't (2) when I have normal tea I quite often fancy a sweet treat afterwards so I'm hoping my swapping over it will supress those sweet cravings!

I'm definitely up for that water challenge. I've been carrying around a 2litre Evian bottle with me today and I'm only 3/4 the way through and I'm struggling to finish it! So I could do with joining you on that challenge!

Good luck to you!

Ahhh! I was already thinking, why would you mean 0 to 5k when you're already that continious of a runner! :D
So how much did you run yesterday (and today?) in what time? I started running beginning of the year and am now up to 8km in a about 50 minutes from 4 km in the same time! Amazing feeling, wish i could continue (stupid, *censored* cough) :( But soon! We can motivate each other :)

Btw, you're english I take it? *laugh*

Hope you were dong good today!
You can find the challenge under "club challenges" -> "The losers". I'd be happy to see you on board! :D

I used to go for 25 min jog every morning 2 years ago and for some reason I just stopped so I'm only just getting back in to it.. I'm following the couch to 5k program. You go out three times a week - for week 1 you walk briskly for the first 5 minutes and then run for 60 seconds walk for 90 seconds and repeat .. then week two you start running for longer etc so in 9 weeks I should be able to run 5k in about 20 mins. As its only 3 days a week I'm doing it Wenesday, Saturday and Sunday. In the days in between such as today I'm planning on doing exercise videos but whilst wearing ankle weights. In a few weeks I'm going to start the insanity program as well so that should help.

I'm so jealous you can run so far.. well done you! :)

Yeah I am English :) You're Austrian right?

I've not done bad today ... Drunk 2 litres!! So am feeling quite pleased. Hope all is going well with you too :)

13/04/2015 *Day 3*

Calorie intake allowance - 1,220
Calories consumed - 949
Calories burned - 224
Net Calories for day - 725

Water consumed - 2 litres

Oi oi, mr. british guy (seriously, you put in milk in tea and crave a scone afterwards, how stereotypical can you get!), don't forget you really shouldn't undereat those 1200 kcal by too much! We don't want your body to go into starvation mode :)

Good job on the water intake though, keep it up!
The 0 to 5k sounds like the zombies, run! app I started with, that had a similar if not the same routine! It got a bit boring though to be honest haha, so i switched to the full scale one (even though interval training is much better, i knoooow)

To my humble person: I actually play 3 different kinds of instruments, have already written my first operette, am a skiing master since the age of 3 and, suprise, Austrian. Oh, and only one of those things is a lie :p
Haha, stereotypes, what do you know!

British Guy?! Haha I'm offended!

Eww who drinks tea without Milk /:

I'm trying not to under eat but the more i eat the hungrier I get /:

Hmm, I just posted in your "Newcomers" thread and saw that you started a journal. Awesome!!!

Seems like you're on the right track. Good for you. Hopefully you keep it up. And, if you need us, we're always here.

And, Americans drink tea without milk, HAHAHA. American tea drinkers often add sugar and lemon. I don't drink tea all that often - well, HOT tea anyway - but when I do drink my tea, I like it cold with some lemon. Green tea is also good. I actually have a big jug of it in our kitchen right now.

Ahh hi again, just replied to your comment on my newbie page thing.

As for tea ... Has to be drunk with milk and without sugar! And if you have a cup and saucer even better :)

I drink green tea too ... Not with lemon though .. and definitely not cold! That sounds really un-appealing - but if it works for you then hey why not. :)

14/04/2015 *Day 3*

Calorie intake allowance - 1,220
Calories consumed - 931

Net Calories for day - 683

*Might have a snack later which will bump up the calorie consumption*

Water consumed - 2 Litres

Hahaha, when I'm in England I drink loads of black tea with ample milk and artificial sugar. I partly do it because it tastes good… but mostly to annoy my English friends *hehehe*

But for me it's mostly Asian teas, I developed a big love for them when I was around 15 and my mum took me to China. After visiting tea plantages and drinking real, fresh, amazing green tea… yeah, once you go true green, you never go back. ;) Now I just drink loads of green tea, oolong and white tea (when I feel fancy), never with sugar, milk, or any of these heresies. The odd herbal tea when I'm sick, those things are wondrous, but also mostly without anything added. The taste of those teas themselves are already amazing, aren't they? Tbh, I think tea has become one of my most expensive hobbies ^^

Good job on your calorie intake and on working out again Tory! Keep it up! What do you eat that you can consume so little and still not feel hungry, please let me in on your secret! :D

Oh wow, you're quite the tea expert lol

I have been having porridge for breakfast (190 cals), either a weightwatchers wholemeal wrap filled with salad (110 cals) or a weightwatchers wholemeal bagel with low fat Philadelphia cheese (208 cals) for lunch; I am also likely to have a snack a jack (62 cals) either as part of my lunch or a mid afternoon snack, then for dinner it varies from a roast dinner (613 cals), pasta (578 cals), chicken (508 cals), salad etc. Some evenings I may have yoghurt and fruit (185ish cals) or celery sticks with a tablespoon of humous (70 cals) . I've just reduced my portion sizes and am cooking things healthier - porridge I make with hot water rather than milk, roast potatoes get cooked in 1 cal spray instead of oil, I used to eat breaded chicken with salad a lot .. the breadcrumbs bump up the calories so I only have been having plain chicken etc and I have also swapped over to wholemeal bread, pasta and rice rather than using white. Plus drinking 2 litres of water helps! haha.

Feeling a little bit elated this morning!

Woke up (day 4) and had a sneaky mid-week weigh in, and I've lost 4.75 pounds - was only expecting maybe 1-2lbs for the entire week so I am very happy :) This makes my new current weight *drum roll* 164.75.

I started at 169.5 and was becoming increasingly worried that I would hit the 170 mark! So I am very happy to be going in the other direction. Plus the sun is shining and the weather is amazing outside .. so I'm feeling good today :)

Oh wow, you are really good when it comes to eating! I also tend to be more the eating loads at night person, but i'm trying to change that. When I made myself eat very small portions at night or even nothing after 6pm I always woke up less hungry and felt much more rested and light. So I'm trying to shift my big meal towards late lunch and have a small dinner… doesn't always work though. Your meals sound healthy and great, it's awesome! And yeah, drinking those 2 liters really help, good job on keeping that up ^-^

And yay to your weight loss! :D That's like… 2kg? That's pretty huge! Probably also a bit of water weight you lost there, but hey, that makes you feel less bloated and weight gone is still weight gone, am I right? :) Go out and treat yourself to a walk and some summer-is-coming fruit :D

Shifting to lighter meals of an evening sounds like a good plan :) Good luck.

As long as the number on the scale is going down I don't care if its water weight or fat haha, I'm just happy its going down. I did have a rather large chunk of watermelon at lunch which tasted so good and re-freshing, I don't often have melon because its too fat/tall to fit on a shelf in the fridge /: but I thought hey ho why not :)
