Top guys on forum

I was wondering what you guys do besides come on this forum for info..
Like read magazines, know of any other good forums, websites, converse w. other experts, etc..
Just list your favorites ;). I'd really like the input.

I read mens health, do research on the web, but most of the stuff I know is just from experience. i've done it, I know what it takes.

read books and studies; anything "real" I can get my hands on (not magazines).
"shop talk" with collegues, incorporating different exercises and schemes with clients.

Suggested authors:
Juan Carlos Santana
Alwyn Cosgrove
Mike Boyle (although not one of my personal favs)
Douglas Brooks
Tudor Bompa

suggestion: put down the magazines and hit the book stores!

You can check out my site for suggested readings:

check the Fitness enthusiasts and Personal Trainers products pages.

Some good reads there!

pubmed.com
"Shop talk" with Strength coaches
Various websites like bodyrecomposition.com and strengthnews.net
Reading tons of stuff from (as mentioned) Tudor Bompa, etc
"Shop talk" with kinesiology professors
Magazines like Milo (excellent resource) and Powerlifting USA

go to a local university's library. I know that our town branches dont have a ton of good stuff, while a major university (preferably one with an exercise science program or similar) will have great periodicals.
I also like to check out the Physician and Sports Medicine journal's back issues. You can view them free online.

I learned a whole buncha carp from the other members here. It's actually pretty education here.

For instance, I learned masturbation is bad. Lol. Interesting.. XD

Anyway's, I also read a lot of internet stuff. I just bought 1 book though on vitamins and minerals.

I pretty much follow the same programs I used years ago (when I played football in highschool), since it worked just fine then and is working just fine now. I read through here to see any new ideas that sound like they might work for me then do some more research on anything new on the web or at the ole library, a few of the guys in the office workout too so we share info that we have discovered.

As far as nutirtion type info, nothing much there ever really changes, alot of people have a lot of new ideas all the time but as you see all hot new diets come and go so best to just stick with the tried and true at least for me.

For supplements I research any supplements that sound helpful through every method I can think of and try and find how they have worked for others then decide if any potential benefits are worth the price.

Thats basically what I do anyways.

I did read mens health Mag, Its all a load of crap. From a weight training view of course. the stuff they right is just pants.

I get all my programs, nutrition weight training info from my Girlfriend and friends that are gym instructors and personal trainers. But this forum has helped fill many gaps for me and made some good suggestions.

i subscribe to alot of newsletters from ppl i respect like alwyn cosgrove, craig ballytyne, josh henkin, mike mahler, christian finn, tom ventuno, dave draper, bud jefferies, etc. i also read up on those who dont have newsletters but websites like will brink, bryan haycock, lyle mcdonald, etc. plus posters on message boards who know their stuff like alan aragon, layne norton, the iron addict, madcow2 (hey, thats their user names) ;)

plus articles by chad waterbury, christian thibadeaux, daniel john, etc. i could go on and on. :)

Thanks for the replys.
I'll take a look through what you guys recommended. Keep em coming if you have any more favorites!

Hi Everyone!
Glad to hear that we have many fitness professionals on this forum that are THIRSTY for knowledge on how to become better at what you do! As you know, this field is unregulated and its filled with lots of "experts"--especially ones that are into quick fix money making schemes without any experience in teaching someone how to squat!
Let's continue learning and exploring other avenues in fitness and strength & conditioning. I look forward to contributing to this forum often and learning more from others and the "state of the industry!"

Check out me and my collegues on www.standPARTfitness.com!

hi John!

Welcome to the site!
This forum is great because, as you say, it has people who are looking to expand and open up to new fitness ideas rather than spread their egos as we have seen on many other discussion forums!

It'll be good to have another qualified trainer on here to express their ideas and experiences.
