Hi,

I am trying to be healthy by eating better and exercising, but my only problem is, I am too tired to exercise. I am in good shape, but i find that my energy is always low. I am a full time student, and I also work full time, and after work or school, when I get home, I am hungry and tired and don't feel like going to the gym. I am afraid this is going to cause me to gain weight because I am not strict about my eating habits. Does anybody have any advice they can get me to help me get to the gym and have more energy after working all day and attending class?

Thanks!

HI cutiepie,

I have a similar problem...always tired, especially in the evening after work - and I don't even go to school. From what I am told, it is a good idea to exercise in the morning. First of all you won't drop it, for any reason, because you actually get up for it and it also gives you energy. The more you exercise the more energy you get and the less sleep you need. Like I said...it's all hear-say. If you looked into my diary, you'll know why...

Anyway...try getting up a few minutes earlier to squeeze in some exercises. You will feel better!

Good Luck!

Lisa is totally right.Exercise in the morning is one thing that really gives the boost to your energy level. It might sound fussy, but you can do this easily.Firstly, sleep at about 9 something. Then wake up around 5 something and drink plenty of water and grab a snack like a banana.About 15 minutes later, when you start to feel fresh, then you start doing your execise. You can jump rope or start running if you have that running machine or stair master(Ordinary stairs will do).Make sure you warm up first by stretching and ease up all your joints. But don't force yourself too hard and hurt yourself.Just think that you want energy troughout the day and that is like your new "coffee".Just try it for two days and see what happens. :)

You need to eat healthy and low cal if you know you are not going to exercise. IF you are a full time student, Find ways to exercise on campus..ie, use stairs rather than an elevator, take long ways rather than short cuts from class to class.
I started out with very minimal energy levels as well. Once i forced myself to get on the tread mill, I feel bad if i dont get on at all. It takes time, in the beginning you need to force yourself to do it. Grab an apple, and get to working out. Eat high protein after you exercise

I share your exhaustion some days. I find that if I just get my shoes on and go outside or start on a yoga tape, I'm able to keep going. I start out with the expectation that I might do less, and that's ok. Doing something really helps.

Also, make sure you're eating enough. When I did South Beach, I was almost catatonic during the first two weeks because the carbs were too low. I adjusted a little and got my vitality back. Don't cheat your body, because then you eat your muscles to stay alive. An appetizing thought.

I feel your pain! I am also a full-time student, working, and way too involved. Getting my exercise in the morning is a must or I can talk myself out of it later in the day.

Im not a student..but i am a mom of 2 kids..3 if you count the husband..and Ive been walking now 5 mornings a week for 3+ mths now ...and its the best thing Ive ever done. I lay out my clothes the nite before I roll out of bed wash my face, get dressed and out the door i go. i meet up w/ someone which motivates me to show up! and I love the way i feel when i get home..I come home w/ a clear head and ready for whatever comes my way...I sleep better than ever at nights and i see a big difference in my tone. Im going to start adding an all terrain hike in once a week too..just to add some variety. I encourage you to try it..but be prepared they say it takes 27 days to set a routine...so just dont give up.
