Hi i am asking this question on behalf of my girl friend. She trains hard and over time has developed a look she is not happy with. She is to built and would like to shave some muscle off some areas such as arms and and legs. This will appear to give her a taller look even know she only stands at 5'1. If someone knows of an article of a work out routine that could help her we would be very appreciative.
 
It sounds to me like perhaps she has fat in those area you described. If so, slim down. Otherwise, add fat if she thinks she is too lean and defined.

In any case, losing muscles would mean losing total body muscles, not just one area. I don't see why one would want to lose muscles though, as it would present an even bigger problem.
 
What if it is correct? What is the best way to lose muscle? Obviously eat less so muscle is burned, but could you target the muscle loss, and if so how? Either by not working the specific muscles, or by overworking them and so damaging them more than they can regrow on a cutting diet.
 
The best method would be to put yourself in a catabolic state with excess cardio while in a deficit.

Note this is what the average person does to "burn fat".
